Thought this deserved a separate thread.

I worked there back in the day when the Nets played at the RAC for two years.

Capacity back then - as I recall was 9000.

Do recall changes mandated by the fire Marshall.

The 100 level went from bleacher seating to seat backs. And as has been discussed elsewhere, the student section was shortened and 118 was changed to premium seating.

Don't know what other changes have been made over time.

There's an interesting Rutgers oral history online with a long interview with Fred Gruninger and he talks in detail about all of the machinations involved in the building of the RAC. In the planning stages, it went from an original capacity of over 11,000 so we could host NCAA games down to 6,000 with budget cuts at one point.

The 100 level on the bench side went from bleexhwra to chair back and eliminates seats

The student section got smaller as well when the seats were redone

Plus ...we took out the 118 seating

If the end zone were arena reconfigured like the sketches that pernetti proposed, we would get to close to 11,000
