How is hospital road closed?!?

Right lane for green lot

Left lane for GameDay parking
That’s cool tango. But we’ve been here for 30 mins in traffic, we’re season ticket holders for 30 years and we’ve always gone in this way and they change it the biggest game of the year? It’s asinine.

There’s a huge construction site right there. You guys should’ve left earlier.

Hey Jim we left Union County at 1045 got there at 1115 and then were in traffic for 40 minutes .15 miles from the stadium. I think getting to a game 45 minutes early is leaving soon enough... but thanks for your opinion. To top it off even with green parking we’re forced to park in yellow Bc they have “vip” parking with no one in the spots. If you don’t think closing off a major throughway into the stadium is ridiculous then I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe I’ll get to the game an hour and a half early next time.

The parking access was absolutely RIDICULOUS. An utter embarrassment. Took us 30 minutes to get in because there was literally ONE point of entry from Sutton’s Lane.

Heads should roll for this.

Don’t be an ass. I got to the traffic light at Metlars and Sutton at 11:25 and it took 30 minutes from there. No warning of the detour from the route I have been taking for every game I’ve ever attended. Bad job by Rutgers

I was running late and approaching the stadium at 11:50, coming down Metlars and saw the mess at the light for Suttons so I made the right staying on Metlars. Took a number cycles of the light to turn into campus on Ave E, but I guess that was better than sitting on Suttons. Of course I then had to go to yellow lot because Green was full already. I should have know, typical Rutgers. Closing the entrance off Suttons w/ no warning it beyond crazy.

having the lot on the other side of the RAC no longer available made this way worse than it would have been

to me, it seemed like they closed the road, forced everybody out to one side, it almost looked like they did it to irritate people on purpose/

I also got stuck in that horrible mess. I have a green lot pass and after being forced to circle around the back and into the side of the yellow lot, they did allow me to park in green, though I was directed to park in a non spot next to the little pedestrian bridge.

What they could have done was open both lanes on hospital road going up to the RAC with prepaid parking going up the right lane and game day going up the other.

it was a late arriving crowd..people still filling in as late as 10 minutes left in the half...need to move things quicker...18 was backed up and it was only 11:15

It was a complete joke after the game too. I usually leave the green lot into the yellow and onto Rockefeller Rd. and turn left. Cones were up not allowing us to do this. It was a joke as I had to go at least 3 miles out of my way by going past the old scarlet lot to Mettlar's Lane. I usually go through Kilmer Rd. and I was not able to do that. I don't know why.

Agree 100% and I'm going to send an email to Hobbs and Co about it. My timeline was roughly the same, I have green (former red) and was sent deep down to yellow. When I walked through the green lot I saw at least 30 empty spots in the "VIP" section and it was about 11:58am. F that. you know who's a VIP? ME dammit, for non-stop donations and sitting through this sh!tty BB for the last 30 years, so give it a rest with this VIP b.s.

Same here

Same thing happened to me. I almost had a stroke I was so pissed. However, I still got out pretty quick going out on Hospital Rd. It's just that I than had to make the right on to Metlers La to head toward Stelton Rd near the Mall. If this is what they are going to do after the game from now on I'll park closer to Hospital Rd.
I didn't run into any problems getting to the game because I decided to take the Turnpike to Exit 9 then Rt 18 to the Metlers La. exit yesterday. I did that last game and figured
I'd do it again. For the last 40 years I've come in on Sutton La. to park in Green. It turned out to be a great decision.

next time you should come to our game

Next time you should stand up or be loud like me. Some of you were louder at the half time performance than pre game, top, or any point during 1H.

I left at 10:45 also. GSP to 132 to 27 to Ethel Rd. Right onto Sutton and left onto Rockefeller got me there in 25 minutes. No traffic on that side. Parked in yellow and was out in less than 2 minutes. Definitely made a left onto Rockefeller to get out with no problem. Got back to Cranford at about 3.

Just something to consider for future games to avoid the mess on the other side.

I realize we don’t sell out many games but they could take a few suggestions and fix things going forward. If you are going to send everyone from Sutton’s lane to one road, open both parking entrances. I drove past a closed entrance. Hire a few more college kids and open them all up. Took me 35 minutes to get in and that was the last mile or so. Exiting was not that bad or I got lucky.

When you guys call to complain, as mentioned above, please ask who the genius was that came up with “VIP” parking. Another idiotic stroke of brilliance.

Hey.... when you knew the Red parking was going to be closed, why not just organize the parking passes to reflect?? I have a Green pass and there’s always a LOT of open spaces in the “VIP” area in s couple of rows.

What makes someone a “VIP”?

Courtside seats.

The "VIP" spaces used to be in the red lot and are now in the green lot and are reserved for people with courtside seats.

There are way more spots that they have fenced off then there courtside seats even if every seat drove their own car. Just give them green. It is not like they will be closer to the RAC.

As for the closing of hospital road. First .... COMMUNICATE! I have been to every home game and the wrestling match the other night. We get there on Saturday and surprise, the road is closed. We were there early enough that it was not that big of a deal to drive around the corner and find the Green lot. When we go there I asked the young lady why they closed the road. She tells me that they have been doing it the last few games. I told her "nope" she said "yup".

The worst part will be this is they continue this. We will be pulling in with cash paying, yellow and green lot customers. So even if you have a pass you have to wait in line so those paying can pay. Normally when pulling into the Green lot you wave your pass and drive right in. This helps the rest of the traffic because nothing backs up on the road.

I would love to know who is responsible for this change without communicating this to the customer.

I don't know how many VIP spots they have versus how many courtside seats. I was just answering the question of what makes someone eligible for VIP parking. Maybe there are other people who also qualify for VIP parking.

I don't disagree that seemingly random changes and poor communications by the athletic department created another cluster***k. We saw similar issues during football season.

I did OK because I left early. This needs to be fixed. Ease of going to games is a humongous benefit we normally have. You can;t take that away.

I attend 1-2 Devils games per year. That number would be a lot higher if I knew i can leave the house 55 minutes before gametime and know 95-99% I'd get in my seat on time.

Agreed. You don't reduce access for a sold out game, you increase it. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the back-up onto Sutton's Lane and it was an hour before game time. Who in their right mind would come up with this and think it's a good idea?

Please somebody send this thread to Pat Hobbs & Co. This parking situation is abominable.

left ridgewood at about 10:30 and had absolutely no problems parking in green lot--was in our seats 20 minutes before tip off

This will be a real problem for any big game that’s at 7PM on a weekday - can’t expect people to leave work at 4 just to make tip off.

There seemed to be a real lack of common sense, cutting off some lot entrances to Funnel all traffic to one, where they inefficiently had about 5 cash collectors in a line.
