I get what you're saying about using the tax credit number in the total raise. But, considering it's the most we've ever donated not sure you could say disappointing. Gotta start somewhere dude why are you so angry?

Btw that David Stern comment was bad sarcasm.

OH yea really same old same old Rutgers, you put lipstick on a pig as you chose to put STATE TAX CREDIT as part of the Funds raised (NOTE WE GAVE Sweeny 600Million in tax credit to get this pittance 25M)
Rutgers alums only 29Million as I said Dear Ole Rutgers does not disappoint.
What the heck are you talking about. The practice facility is totally paid for and is being built. We have enough now. When is the last time RU built a new facility?

I hope a majority of the other 922 donators are still applying for their company match!

There was a thread somewhere on these boards a day or two ago stating the $30M figure (+ the tax credit). I forget who talked to Hobbs at a meet and greet (someone either in Cali or Florida, I believe).

Great stuff. Great, great stuff. Anybody being the slightest bit negative, in this thread, really needs to check themselves. SMH.

Allow me to say that while this is a clear step forward it's not a quantum leap.

Of course it is, Rutgers has never ever raised this much for sports in this short of time.. well ever.

So unless you are new to Rutgers, welcome, this is a big deal.

Yes, other big time schools can get $25 million donations from one person, but that is not us, we are blue collar and every bit counts.

The top 10 gave at least $18 million or $1.8 million per. ($11 million from top 3 and at least 1 million from 10).

The 913 gave an average of $12,342.

Hobbs is looking for 10,000 donors by end of funding. I would assume the average across that crowd would be about $2500 for $22.5 million. (9k * $2,500).

That still leaves another $25 million or so via big donors. Seems about right.

I'm just finding the reactions here are so manic, both positive and negative. They have a considerable amount of hyperbole.

Still scratching my head over a total of 923 donations. Sorry, and I'm Mr. Blue Sky wearing scarlet colored glasses. Was considering bagging my donation because finances are kind of in the shitter this year, but we nearly doubled our usual contribution and directed it all to the B1G build fund.

My guess is 3-fold here:

- did they concentrate their efforts on large(r) gifts at this time?

- people are not use to donating towards a specific fund (see: R B1G Build)

- many may do their donating at different times of year (see: not 1st 4 months, not before getting their returns, get their bonuses after July 1st, etc, etc, etc,...)

This is the key. Like with all big fundraising campaigns they will hit the phones. Most people don't give until asked. They are going to start hitting the crap out of the 250,000 alumni that have not given yet. This will be done before football season starts.

I think it's this. There's a list of like 50 options of where you want your money to go when donating to athletics, and the build fund was not highlighted in any way. I would guess the vast majority simply didn't know it was a priority for the school, because it wasn't treated like one.

I was thinking there were more people like me, who are reasonably plugged into the goal this year, needed more priority points, and gave all of their donation to the B1G build fund. Thus, I was thinking that with the recently expired April 30 ticket deadline, there would have been a lot more donations north of $5,000 or more from season ticket holders.

Holy [poop], WTF is wrong with some of our "fans!?" We just announced that we raised $29.3M in private donations & have $54.3M towards our phase 1 goal of $100M, yet people are still whining & skeptical. Enough crybabies. It's a new era.
