How Zach Edey sees Rutgers

I don't recall hearing a player say that before. Fans, yes. Whatever. Nice to know we are in his head.
Especially all the while saying (paraphrasing) they "can't let it get to you (them)". 🤣

Our entire team was in foul trouble Monday for things like getting their foot stepped on. It appears that officials are not afraid to call fouls on us. Derek got elbowed in the face and the guy started talking trash at him while he was on the ground. Foul on Derek. Technical on Caleb when a guy walks thru our huddle.

Sore loser. He will never get a chance to play us again, he’ll go down losing 5 of his 6 games against Rutgers in his career. I’d be crying and trying to rationalize it too
I hope we get Cuse, Duke, IU, Purdue, and UCONN in the tourney before getting revenge against Houston

This is an incredibly bad interview for a supposed elite player. I hope someone sat him down after and walked him through how poorly done this was. He sounds like a bitter cry baby who got beat up and still can’t get over it.

The interview was before the game, so he wasn’t complaining about what happened that night. And he went for 19 and 11 in 28 minutes so he is not soft. Some of his teammates may be soft, but he is not soft.

You thought that was a good look for a candidate for POY? I am not suggesting he is soft. Cry baby, yes. You take the high road.

He was asked a question, he answered the question. I don’t have any problem with what he said, we do foul a lot on defense, and it works for us.

It was a PRE GAME interview. POST game, they found him in the corner sucking his thumb.

I didn’t think he was whining really. He said it, but expressed it like it’s just a part of the game. And it’s also true. He was also complimentary about Cliff. Contrast this to how the Eastern Conference used to bitch and moan about Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason. Edey was way more professional than the bitches on the Celtics back in the day. I’m fine with it. Especially because we won.

Good wrap from the Purdue side:

We RU fans have got to like this quote:

“. . . the complete irreverence Rutgers plays with at all times . . . the fact that Rutgers isn’t really phased by anything . . . you know they’re a bunch of East Coast kids . . . as an East Coast kid myself I can tell you we don’t give a damn about anything, and that’s how Rutgers plays.”

Well…I’ll tell you what I think. You are on an island. Not the way to handle the media. Sour grapes. Unsophisticated. Especially how the game ended.

Ok, I think you may have a reading comprehension issue, he gave this interview BEFORE the game.

Edey is charmin soft, feather light and as AZ said, a whale’s hoo hah all rolled into a soft dainty pillow with marshmallows on top.

There are better ways to phrase his complaint. "Rutgers plays very physical on defense, you have to expect that and be ready for it." He did have nice things to say about Cliff overall and is a great college player.

I did think the Nolan Richardson 40 minutes of Hell pressing really did play with the mindset of "the refs won't call everything". I don't think that's us.

Also, since no one brought it up yet, if you make it to the end of the video LOL what the heck was that .. A+ reporting, nothing but the best .. “uhhh .. uhhh .. what was I gonna ask .. uhhh” and cut the video. And the Big Ten Network tried to tell us we weren’t ready for their production. We have constantly the best content and videos Out of any of these stupid cornfield IT morons

I don't mind the interview, but you'd never hear Shaq complain that other teams are fouling him lol. He would just use his size to dominate them. I prefer honest responses than a bunch of nothing

Yeah, he acts like the Rutgers defensive game plan is to implement the hack a Shaq strategy every game. They don’t go out of their way to foul on purpose. They are extremely active, aggressive, tough, and nonstop on the defensive side. It’s that simple. Hence why they might be the best coached team on defense in the country. Again, comes off very soft the way he described it.
