Guys he didn’t fail . He had too many things off the court swirling around him and a terrible season was a good reason to make all those problems go away.

Getting fired and resurfacing eventually is still getting fired. But yes, if you win ALOT you’ll probably land somewhere eventually

Yes . He was fired for on the court more than off the court.
But I think if he didn’t have the off court stuff he would have gotten another season

The team he inherited 3 players went to the NBA and 3 left via the portal. He was 2 points away from the final four.
Howard had a bad season after losing an all American in the portal and two NBA Players. I thing the AD made the right call. NCAA Tournament to NIT to losing record (plus off court issues ). Had to go.
Not a failure IMO.
Missing the tournament 2 years in a row isn't a failure. Even the best teams miss the tournament 2 years in a row.
Trending down over the course of 4 years isn't a failure.

Woodson and Howard have been better than us every year of their time at Indiana and Michigan (except UM this year).
People call them huge failures.
But wouldn't we easily switch positions the last 4 years?

Weird is the argument "HC Pike needs to be excused because even elite teams miss the tournament twice. We've been competitive for 5 years. 4 years of downward results doesn't make him a failure. Can't have high expectations next year either because plenty of teams with elite recruits dont go far in the NCAA tournament.

Your argument assumes that context and the name on the front of the jersey don't matter.
That's why I think Sean Miller of Xavier will be in contention and a damm good hire.
What happened at Arizona is past history now,and he's a proven winner.
But the Musketeers had a losing season this year and that might keep Michigan from considering him among the first to go after.

If Miller could have followed up Xavier's sweet 16 appearance in 2022-3 with a 20+ win season in 2023-4 and tourney bid , he'd get a look see.

It would be interesting if capel ever moved on (by promotion or demotion) from Pitt. If they go for knight or Miller
I wonder if 6-10 Sophomore Tarris Reed Jr. (4-star recruit) would be interested in playing with Ace and Harper?
I suspect he and Lathan could team up to do some damage in the paint with defenses having to focus on Ace and Harper.
