I guess this PSU LB hasn't seen the movie Concussion yet

I haven't seen the movie yet but I thought it was about boxing.
The movie is about the NFL ignoring the long term and permanent effects of concussions on players. It's a good movie.

Listen, I'm not saying that having your head slammed into things doesn't lead to future problems, I'm sure it does. I just hate how no attention is given to the use of pain killers or other drugs abused by athletes . We know that pain killers can take away your hearing, ask Rush Limbaugh. What else are they capable of? Can they cause brain damage? What happens when they are combined with steroids, uppers or drugs of that nature? The press loves to focus on the brutality of football because it sells. More studies need to focus on what happens behind closed doors. The NFL has made some changes for the better, but more needs to be applied to what happens off the field.

Yeah....I get the whole "Let's make football safer" crusade. But I don't wanna see the sport evolve into flag football. And I'm wondering why they don't focus the crusade more on a sport like boxing

probably because football has WAY more participants than boxing.

They focus on the NFL because it's the King. They take down the King and everything else falls into place. It's all about the punkifacation of men. Look no further then the military. They are trying to put women on an equal ground physically with men, which is impossible and will never happen.

How do they get away with advertising the movie during NFL games ? I am surprised the NFL hasn't put s stop to that if the movie is really anti- NFL

You must live in a different world than I do. I've known any number of men who could have been members of the cast of The Big Bang Theory and quite a few women who could kick the arse of most men.
People are different.

I haven't seen the movie, and probably won't - I'm not huge on commercial film properties, as it is.

I will say, this, though - from the perspective of a one-time insider. There is no information about the game: physical, medical, psychological, commercial or otherwise, that the NFL possesses that is not also possessed, at the same time, by the NFLPA. So to whatever extent the NFL may be guilty of inaction or inertia with respect to game-related head injuries, the players' own union is precisely as guilty.

I'm pretty sure I am not getting punked. Lol. I am a white male from a family of very limited means and there has never been a minority that has kept me from obtaining anything I earned - the reverse however is often not true.

All you PhD guys are full of shit

The NFL has to "act" like they are cooperating with making the sport safer. I've done research on this... The NFL has been and is still under all types of pressure the make the game safer, in particular with head injuries. CTE, is real. TBI is real. The NFL knows it. Blocking this movie would simply allow the NFL's advasaries to have more material. I left out some other things that are facts for those who plan to see the movie. I say watch the movie. Then be the judge. I'll go on a limb and say from what I remember, at least 50% of the things that happened in that movie are documented facts.

Do yourself a favor and at least watch the documentary League of Denial if not read the book rather than relying on this film.

Wow, this thread was actually supposed to be more about what an idiot this kid is with his self-inflicted head trauma, and you all are taking it in another direction. Guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

Good article in Sports Illustrated on the movie.....
