The Laviano fumble near the goal line, the 4th and 1 high snap, the INT for a touch down. By the way do we not have a field goal kicker?

Yes, we played better than them. Can't turn it over that much. Reminds me of the PSU game.

Also think it was because we scored less points, anyone care to argue that? If we had scored more points than them, i am pretty sure we would have won.....yes turnovers were huge, and thats why you cant make them.

I agree with this and I also think that the reason we have so few wins is because we have too many losses. If we could lose fewer games, we would win more.

Those bad snaps on 4th and short -- might we consider having the QB take the snap from under the Center?
My exact thought when he went into the gun, especially on the second 4th-and-1, then my next thought was, because we want to make it harder on ourselves. That's all I got.

It is almost impossible to win with 4 fumbles & 1 interception. We really won every phase of the game except turnovers which gave us the L. We had 23 first downs to only 10 by Illinois and many more yards than they did but we lost. I hope Resigno does start next week.

Every segment of the game has its influence on winning and losing. Turnovers are always a bad thing unless you are getting them. We lost because we didn't play well enough to win.

I thought we would run a QB sneak. It wasn't even a whole yard. I guess it would be hard to clap while under center though.

Do we really have to run a play that we can't depend on the snap? Doesn't bode well for the spread offense.

I personally don't want Laviano to take another snap. He's 21 now and he doesn't have to have a fake ID. Let him go party.

Excellent post. In seriousness though, I might be done with this staff if they start laviano again. It would be a huge slap in the face to the fans. I would rather lose out the rest of the year than see laviano as the starter (either way there's a good chance we lose out which makes it even more of a reason not to start someone else)

This is among the most creative posts I've seen on Laviano. Nicely done, sir!

I think over the last four games if we had just gotten a break here and there we would be 6-1 right now. We are so close you can just taste it.
You and I would get along so well it's ridiculous. Nicely played!!

Scoring 2 TDs over the last 18 Qtrs. won't win you too many games..... Stop with BS about turnovers.

Correct, stats wise we dominated, which is the painful part. You just can't win with 5 turnovers, it doesn't matter who you are playing.

I think you missed the sarcasm in my post.....we are getting beaten on all fronts today we found many ways not to score...turnovers led the way though..poor execution, bad snaps...all kinds of issues

spin spin spin away
coaching didn't put the qb under center
coaching didn't instruct the kids to let the ball go inside the 10 and not catch the damn thing (football 101)
there are other coacing mistakes today but at this point.....

I do agree, tough to win losing the turnover game

This is a joke, right ?

And right now Illinois is saying they would've beaten us 41-7 if they didn't turn the ball over. Blaming this game on the TOs ignores the fact that we have limited talent and our HC is not a transcendent coach

They had 1 turnover, we had 5.

We had 23 first downs to Illinois' 10. We outgained Illinois 385 yards to 320. Based on those statistics it's hard to say that Illinois has more talent than us.

There always are lots of ifs by some fans trying to explain what might have been but reality says a 24-7 loss to a mediocre Illinois team on Homecoming.

Iowa - lack of execution cost of 3 TD's
Illinois - lack of execution cost us, maybe, 1 TD. TO's cost us, arguably, 3 TD's. Gave them 1.

...nothing wrong with this thread IMHO. Okay, a tad obvious, but so are a lot of other things stated here.

Reality's over rated. I like to live in the world of should've, would've, could've. RU's a power house in my world.
