I know we spoke about this previously, but thought I would share the take on the Washington board, which I semi agree with. Just for context, it was after the blocked FG and Washington recovered and was trying to advance the ball, but the ball carrier was in a big scrum. One of their freshman jumped on the field to celebrate but the play has not been blown dead

Husky fans agree it was a penalty, but the penalty should not have been a pre-snap penalty like illegal substitution. Should have been either an excessive celebration penalty or a post play penalty imposed on the kickoff, similar to if it had been a block in the back after the blocked kick

It is clear that the kid has no effect on the play, and if you remember. It was a 5 yard pre snap penalty on a 4th and 5, which gave us a first down, immediately followed by an Ian Strong TD

This is play as it was called - slow motion at the 1:15 mark. Clearly didn't interfere with the play and if he hadn't jumped RIGHT IN FRONT OF the ref, I doubt that penalty gets called

In the past. we are always on the wrong side of these - just ask Devin Watkis
