We're 2-2, not 0-4 or 1-3. Lots of football left to be played, and there's NO REASON why we can't make this best of it. Proud of the way replacements have stepped in and made things happen. Cioffi, Agudosi, Wharton, Hester, Lewis, and Austin have stepped into tough spots and played well. That we haven't missed a beat reflects the quality depth that has been assembled.

Thats why the rest of the season, isn't about them, its about us. We do what we have to do, and we can't be beat. You can get away with sloppiness and win against a Kansas like opponent.

But Saturday nights opponent represents a significant step up in class, similar to Penn State. We need to play with more precision, execute our assignments. show better mental toughness, and show better attention to detail to win. We had our opportunities against Penn State, but just couldn't finish our drives due to penalties, mental mistakes, overall sloppiness, and a lack of precision. Against PSU, our plays took too long to develop, and by the time the ball carrier was ready to make a play, he was swarmed, owing in Part to PSUs athleticism.

But thankfully, all the mistakes we made against PSU are correctable, so this is a great opportunity for redemption. We shouldn't have as many false start penalties, as we're playing at home. Last year, we beat Michigan in the same spot because we were a much better team against Mich, than we were against PSU, earlier in the year. I'm looking for similar improvement against Michigan State and see NO REASON why we can BEAT them.

We've got the best backs and best wrs in the conference. Josh Hicks is averaging 6.0 ypc. Robert Martin is averaging 6.1 ypc. We've got a qb throwing for a very high percentage. We have a serviceable defense thats playing well enough, giving up an average of 23 points, with an opportunity to be even better.

Everything and Everyone we need to win is already on the squad. Now its just a question of playing the right players in the right spots, seizing opportunities, and making the most of our Home Field Advantage. Lets get it DONE!

You think we can somehow fix all of this by Saturday?
All of these problems point to a lack of discipline on the part of the players. I will admit that a lot of it may be due to the situation of injuries, jail and the coaching situation, but still...

I don't think we have the "best backs and wrs in the conference". You would have to prove that to me.

Every game is winnable, and upsets do occur, but at this point we are more likely to get upset by Army and Maryland than upset Ohio State and Michigan State.

Do you have a stutter, because you posted three times?

Anyway see my lack of discipline thread, for which some roundly criticized me. Our margin of error is much smaller than tOSU's, but if we reduce our margin of error, and we execute to near perfection for a game or two, we can win Saturday night. Big IFs, but I don't stop believin'.

football is football just play the game and see what happens. No game is 100% win or loss. That said, like Knight Shift said, we MUST play mistake free football and hope the other teams stack off or start making mistakes. We are just not built to make a comeback this year.

instead of posting this information three times , I'll just say it 3 times in this post :ear:

Knight Shift,
Lol, no stutter - just a very difficult time posting at that time. I got nothing back from the server telling me that the post had been accepted. So, kept trying.

Anyway, I cannot see why losing this particular game would make you less enthusiastic. This is, arguably, the best team so far we have played. Yes, they have certainly not lit anyone up, but they are undefeated and ranked #4. In the best of times, many here would not be all that positive about beating them.
Personally, I would be really happy to see us play them as well as the other teams they have played. Another loss like the one to PSU (definitely not a great team) will make me think things are looking really bleak though for the rest of the season.

we did better against Kansas, and hopefully we can continue to improve vs MSU.
