If we had beaten Michigan State, they wouldn't be playing today. We may not win our conference or division any time soon, but we'll have the potential to impact the national playoff picture quite frequently from where we're sitting I would think.

Flood wouldn't have been fired. RU would have gone to a bowl, gotten destroyed, and we'd be reading posts about rooting for RU to lose for the next 2 years "for the long term good of the program". Laviano would still be the starter, Rettig would still be the backup, but by then he would have been turned into the next Tom Brady by the fanbase.

And, if the Earth was square we would call it...Bizarro World!

Or we would have won our bowl game, would go 8-5 next year and no matter who coached us in 2016 and no matter who was named the starting QB, the fan base would argue which 2 of the 3 backups would play better than Tom Brady if given a chance to mop up blowouts.

imagine if david tyree's helmet was polished for an extra hour, imagine if bill buckner could actually touch his toes, imagine if ewing practiced lay-up's, imagine if edmonton ownership wasn't so desperate for money, imagine if torre never put aaron boone in as a pinch runner, imagine if your alarm clock broke....you could just keep imagining

Might as well add this, it fits because its New Years.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Yes, Flood WOULD have been fired regardless. Unless the outcome of the rest of the games also changed...

We played great all around that night. We looked legit. We also played a great 2nd and 4th quarter vs Indy and a great first half vs MD. In between and around that was not very pretty as far as all around team play.

Watching Wisconsin and USC last night reminds me of where we want to be. Solid all around Football by both programs. We have seen it on and off. We need to be consistently good in all facets of the game. That is all.

I think Flood felt if he keep recruiting and stayed away from campus, they couldn't fire him, lol. If only he could have kept the helicopter refueled and air born, he'd still be coach!:sunglasses:

We have already kept a team out of the championship game.

Louisville in 2006. Could have been 12-0 and faced Florida. Instead they went 11-1 and Ohio State ended up there.

I honestly believe we were one play from beating Michigan state..... That damn 3rd and 9 completion.....Had we held we would have scored late and won....

ESPN would have moved heaven and earth to make sure a team from the BE was nowhere near the BCS Championship Game, given their all out effort to completely destroy the conference.

Michigan State has an opportunity to make history tonight. They will need to play the perfect game and have every break go in their favor.

Imagine if Romo knew how to handle a snap or if Townsend caught that pass from Teel or if Nova did not throw those interceptions or if Beltran swung at Wainright's pitch or if Schiano did not take the job from Tampa or if Savage never left Rutgers

I would be happy.

It just goes to show how close we are from being an elite team. We beat Michigan and UNC last year and they were top 20 this year. We are very close to being a top 3 team in the BIG.

IIRC, RU knocking off Louisville benefited Florida in 2006, not Ohio State. OSU was #1, after their win over #2 Michigan on the same day that Cincy knocked RU out of the ranks of the undefeated. So it is the Gator fans who should say a nice "thank you" whenever they encounter someone in Rutgers clothing.

This year, an RU win over MSU would have certainly kept them out of the playoffs since it would have been OSU in the B1G CCG rather than the Spartans.

RU also factored into the NC game in 2003, rather incredibly, by knocking off Syracuse in the home finale that year (Schiano's 3rd season). That mattered because SU went on defeat ND, which had also lost to USC. So USC ended up being 3rd in the computer rankings due to the strength of schedule and the strength of the schedule played by your opponents criteria. It was a whisker-thin margin, but IIRC, Auburn and Oklahoma got into the NC game over USC that season.

I'm sure he thinks his only mistake was not staying up in the air with the recruiting Helicopter and never landing.

If we had beaten Michigan St., KF still may be coaching the team, and that thought is a bit scary.

Guys, there are like 10 threads telling you to let it go. WTF?

Add something to this board that you think will help Rutgers.....anyone?
