Say we had a potential incoming transfer who were in similar situations to McMiller or Mag.
Meaning they likely sat/quit on existing team to save themselves for the portal.
How much (if anything) would this diminish their value from your perspective?
I realize these types of players are making "business decision" but decisions have consequences as well.
IMO I would think that we should rarely take these types of players.
Not that we should be so morally pure, but rather I believe that in these situations it would reduce their $ value (amount you need to pay NIL/Revenue sharing) MORE than what at least some other teams would reduce their value.
Said another way, we would pay too much for this player given we have essentially a salary cap, and our money is better spent elsewhere.
The player who may be worth $500K based purely on talent/performance I may be willing to say give $250K if they sat out/quit on their team, but I suspect that player would get other $500K offers, so why I think we should rarely get these types of players.
Opinions?
