Iowa next week

I admit not following their program. Were they big underdogs. I would have guessed they were
They've now won 6 straight against FBS teams. They've also won the last 5 FBS Championships. Their QB from last season starts for the Eagles and was a first round pick. On a trivial note, ESPN Gameday has been there twice.

Yeah just like you told us all New Mexico is a lock at +5.5. Was that not trolling or being negative and just reality also. Good call on that one pal.
This guy is the biggest board troll. Nothing nice to say about RU, and a total dickhead in the Mets thread.

Iowa's run defense has sucked.

Miami of Ohio ran for 158 yards
ND State ran it at will down their throats for 250 yards while passing for 124. I like that stat and how it will work out for RU.

Iowa got whipped at home? They lost with no time left on the clock.

Iowa only had 12 1st downs, only 231 yards of offense (outgained by 130), and had 34 yards rushing on 25 attempts. That's awful. I know that NDSU is a great FCS team, but they had to go to OT in their 1st two FCS games this year. A Big 10 team averaging only 1.4 yards a carry against an FCS team has to be a record. (Outgained on the ground 239 to 34, wow)

And by the way, 0-3 Miami of freaking Ohio outgained Iowa and had 8 more 1st downs, unfortunately they fumbled three times.

Of course, I can't believe people do not know this, so weird.

Anyone who thinks that North Dakota State is a weak team or the same as Howard just because they are FCS clearly doesn't follow College Football at all outside of our games.

It is completely insane to think that because they were able to get a last second field goal that it somehow translates to us having a chance.... it doesn't.

Iowa may not be ranked in the top 25 when we play them but that doesn't mean they will not play like a top 25 team.

They are not as good as Washington who we barely could keep up with their backups. Or UM or MSU which are both top ten teams or should be. Or the monsters OSU which should be the #1 team in the nation. But Iowa is still better than any of the other schools on our schedule this year not mention above and they are way better than us at everything except maybe the run. So unless our pass defense suddenly becomes really good, we are in trouble.

The team will need a large RU crowd in their seats at kickoff to have any chance.
The students can make a difference.
there were positives in the game, defense adjusted, made some important 3rd down stops, Grant Great, Offense in spite of terrible flat pass incompletes scored more then them, we won, onto to Iowa.

North Dakota State would blow us out at home.
So many of our fans need to boost their football IQ.
------
Sorry, I pretty much only follow our big 10 rivals, the ACC teams., since many were former rivals, and your top teams in the country...... Not following the North Dakota state team is something a lot of fans would not do....

Anyway, as someone mentioned the Vegas board had Iowa as a two td favorite...... Not a blowout spread, but still a solid favorite to win

I would admit if our game this week was at Iowa, we probably would have listed as a 3 td. Or more underdog.

So, based on that, North Dakota state would be considered a stronger team than RU..... Your point is thus noted...... They are a team to be reckoned with.

To put in perspective, in last year's final Sagarin ranking, NDSU was #36, ahead of traditional powers Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Miami FL. The next highest FCS team was Illinois State at #76. We were #98.

Surprising that ND State hasn't jumped to FBS yet. For Iowa, if we can put together 4 quarters of good football rather than 2, we should have a chance.

Shhhh. That does not fit the narrative like the post immediately below yours. Remember, ONLY RU sucks and has problems. Everybody else we play is perfect and are world beaters.

Because their stadium seats 19,000. FBS teams must have a 30,000 seat stadium. I'm guessing they do not want to make that large of a financial commitment. We average over 40,000, get a much larger payment from the conference and are financially struggling.

Of course any team can win on a given day just like North Dakota state. Iowa starters could get very sick and not be able to play in the game or play crappy because of being sick. But nothing on the field has indicated that we will be within 15 points of Iowa if everyone is healthy. Look loser at both teams and there is still a big difference. Hopefully within a few years we can compete with them.

Great point, just shows you what a uninformed dumb ass he is,LMFAO. Maybe he could tell us why Chapman couldn't start the season in April?????

Funny, I knew this stemmed from the Mets thread. You just can't handle that your team is a disappointment, can you? 9 games back in the NL East was unthinkable in Spring Training, no matter how much you want to spin it.
Second, you forgot to quote my post eating crow for my NM +5.5 prediction where I also said I'm happy RU won. Why didn't either of you do that? Lastly, does this board permit you to call me a "dumbass" and "dickhead" simply because you're mad that the New York Mets are disappointing?

You have nothing positive to say about Rutgers either. Just joined. Seem like a miserable cretin of a fan or you are a troll. You are on ignore now Bye bye.

No one in their right mind thinks we will win.

So there is no pressure on us. Rutgers just need to not crap the bed the 1st quarter and just play loose and keep fighting and never give up and see what happens.
Great post that should be pinned to the top of the board for the next week. THIS is the reality of the Iowa game.

Stadium size isn't an issue. As long as your stadium can accommodate enough to help you meet the 15,000 average home attendance requirement (which isn't enforced anyway), your stadium can have as many or as few seats as you want. Recent FBS move-up ODU wants to build a brand new stadium, with only 22,000 seats. FBS conferences may tell NDSU that they want to see plans for a larger stadium before extending an invitation, however, but it's not an NCAA requirement.

The problem NDSU has is that no G5 conference wants them. All G5 conferences have 12-14 football members and don't need any more schools to split declining revenue pools with. Also, NDSU is far, really far, from any G5 conference footprint. The nearest G5 school is NIU, 600 miles away. The MAC's entire conference footprint isn't that expansive. NDSU is over 800 miles from the nearest MWC school, Wyoming. Travel travel costs matter a lot, especially in light of the shrinking revenue problem. NDSU is not in a major media market, not in a hot recruiting area. From the perspective of G5 conferences, the value isn't there.

And a lot of FCS athletic directors, presidents, and fans prefer the FCS. They hate the idea of moving to FBS to increases schollies for football and women's sports, COA, all of the added costs with not much more revenue, all for the payoff of playing in some obscure, sad bowl. Many would prefer to keep their regional rivalries and to play in a real championship playoff. So it's possible NDSU leadership and/or fans aren't interested in FBS anyway. They probably get more notoriety as the "lil ol FCS team that could" than they would as "just a good MAC team."

This is not accurate as far as the RU football teams goes - The football team already makes money - even before the full B1G share comes in. The athletic department loses money but not the Football team. Need to clarify this because the media constantly sends this inaccurate message out to NJ.

The students can make a difference.
Unless the students are better at blocking, tackling, and catching the ball, I don't see what difference that makes. All the yelling in the world from fans arriving before kickoff isn't going to make Laviano any better at throwing accurate 5 yard swing passes.
