At the risk of being called a troll because I only signed up today I have to wonder if it occurred to you long time posters who keep calling the guy names because he just joined yesterday and then stated an obvious concern ....does that make him a troll ..I'm sorry if I bought into the newfound excitement of the RU wrestling program with the AA recruitment and the other local state champs who have chosen to follow AA into this budding program ....not to mention Nick now coming home ....isn't that what coach Goodale is trying to do ....get more people interested and involved ....I apologize if I never posted before but I've been following the posts for couple years now but never felt need to say anything until today ..a day when our biggest match of our home season is upon us and with a real chance to win ...my opinion ....sorry if I'm offending someone sayin it ...I along with a couple guys in the Virginia match thread have been thinking exactly what your so called troll had been thinking ..(don't believe me go back to it ..) ..RL missing weight is a problem ...who knows why ..do all of you think our best lineup today is with Richie at 165 and JVB out altogether ....maybe it is and maybe if the coaches had known ahead of time that RL was not gonna make the weight then JVB would have been asked to gradually go down a few weeks ago to 157 because he certainly is better then either Santos or Donner ...again my opinion ...this not knowing what weight RL wants to go permanently is a problem ..we lost Loch Haven because of RL no going out there for whatever reason you guys wanna give him...that's a fact ..I will certainly be rooting for all our guys tonite but I gotta tell ya our best lineup is not scheduled to go .....now let the name calling begin ..I can handle it!!

I think the reason the other poster was/is viewed as trolling is that his opinions and statements are reminiscent of a prior poster who was banned under multiple screen names. His concerns may be legit, but his way of expressing them certainly raised a few eyebrows.

With all the gnashing of teeth over Lewis, I cannot help but wonder which is in fact better from a pure "get the win" standpoint. Lewis has a shot at beating Kemerer, but it is likely to be a decision loss. Marinelli vs. JVB is a toss up match. If Marinelli wins, thats 0-6 Iowa in the two matches. Best case scenario is 3-3 on the 2 matches.
If Donner has to go at 157, he may give up bonus points. But Lewis may get bonus points on Marinelli. Let's take the worst case scenario. Donner gets pinned, and Lewis only wins a decision. Thats 3-6 Iowa over those 2 matches a 3 point improvement. Best case scenario is still probably a 4-4 result.
So by moving Lewis up, you eliminate 3 points of downside, while conceding only the unlikely outcome that Lewis beats Kemerer. In other words, if you think Lewis can win, you want him at 157. If you don't, it is absolutely better to have him at 165.

I was hoping we throw Mackall in at 133 and bump SDV to 141 to beat Turk instead of throwing MVB out against Turk in a toos-up. I honestly have no idea how good AM is. I saw him get teched at U-23 by daton fix, but he looked good on his feet. Any thoughts/insights to how the stud class from 2 years ago is developing?

You missed the point ..if Richie wanted to go 165 against Iowa and said so or the coaches decision was to do that to secure the win then why wasn't JVB told a couple weeks ago to get ready for 157 ...I agree RL should get bonus at 165 but JVB is the better guy to go at 157 then ..not Donner or Santos ....I don't think it's fair to a kid to not know where he is slotted and being at the whim of a kid not making weight....my guess is ..the coaches are dealing with a loose cannon ...again ..my opinion.
Why can Lewis make 154 in Poland, but has trouble making 157 for us? I would have thought 157 would be a breeze to make after making 154.

Apples and Oranges. U23 is the day before weigh-in, you can literally suck every ounce of water out of your body and then have 24 hours to re-hydrate. You cannot do that in college, the one hour weigh in is brutal if you are sucking a lot of weight.
Only problem with this theory is they never gave JVB the opportunity to get to 157 so it will be Donner or Santos ....that been my whole premise of asking what's goin on with the RL weight issue ...now you see that even Flo blames RL not wrestling against loch haven as the reason we lost ...plus others have asked yet I'm a troll for asking.
I did not miss the point. I simply didnt address it because I have no idea what anyone was told, or what was acceptable. You are entitled to your opinion, and apparently to post under multiple screen names and have conversations with yourself. I don't speak to shit I have no first hand information on. I am not going to sit here and talk about what Richie is and is not allowed to do, because I don't know what Richie was told by the staff. I also don't know what JVB was told by the staff.
For all you know, the staff gave Richie the option, and feel that having JVB at 157 is not an option. Maybe JVB can't or doesn't want to cut? He is pretty damn lanky as it is. You can post over and over against that its wrong, but you don't know that.
You also, perhaps wrongly, assume that Richie is not doing all he can to make 157. If he can't, he can't. There are hydration rules, etc. This is college, not international. So you are making him out to be the bad guy. You have no idea what the deal is, so perhaps you should keep your opinion to yourself. Stop spreading venom about the team. Its fair to ask, it is not fair to paint it out as if there is this huge problem that is not being addressed.
Thank you for making my point ....you along with others on many other threads have asked about this very thing but I'm supposedly some guy who used to be here knocking RU when in fact I'm into their wrestling program more then ever since we actually have a chance to knock off a perennial power and move up the rankings ...I certainly hope RL majors at 165 and helps the cause but am not convinced he gives a damn about anyone but himself and certainly could care less how this affects JVB or the rest of the team for that matter.

I love RL but I doubt he bonus Marinelli. The bull is a true blue chip recruit and I'm not even entirely sure RL is a guaranteed win. He's the favorite for sure but this isn't a lock imo. JVB would be a underdog to Marinelli especially if he isn't 100%.
Best case scenario is if we wash 157-165 somehow. I'm hoping RL takes down Kem and sets up epic matchup with Nolf

Hard to see RL majoring Marinelli (not impossible), I think RL is favored,but not by much.Marinelli is the real deal.RU is probably better off with JVB @57 and RL @65 in the long run
JVB can not go 157 ,that's a fact he had to have come down gradually last week but since Richie decided he didn't wanna do 157 he goes to 165 and JVB gets left out in the cold.To say he wants to go 165 for awhile then go to 157 in NCAA is a travesty to JVB ...if you thinks it's ok to do that to a teammate then maybe I'm missing something .

Just gonna throw this out there. My first post was a few days ago and no one suggested I was a troll. In my post I questioned the wisdom of assuming a RU win over LHU was a given, and I questioned if Coach Goodale's mindset is to take the team to the next level in March.

The fact that wng has had one post about Lewis on this thread and it’s about him being injured doesn’t make me feel good about his chances to wrestle tonight. The only slim chance of winning this duel is to have him in the lineup but I don’t feel good about it at all judging by the signs. I’ll be there but it’ll kill the excitement in the RAC knowing that there’s no chance to win it
Is the match supposed to be close to a sellout? I am going but having a crappy commute home due to train issues on raritan valley line. Hoping to stop at Henry’s for a bite but thinking it will be packed if a sellout.

Well if you were there like I was you had to hear the boos when RL was announced ..you keep making excuses ...RL is not hurt ..he just doesn't give a damn about the team , didn't even warm up with any of them til about a minute to go ,chooses to not work to get down to 157 and screw over JVB by goin at 165 to dodge Kemmerer .if it was a team decision fine but next time at least have the decency to give JVB the chance to go down .if Richie can't make weight swap them once and for all.
