Let me start by saying that I have praised Barchi in the past for the gains and wins we have had regarding the med school and the integration of said institutions into RU...
But as to the Flood matter, I am hearing from good sources that this situation with Flood could have been stopped much sooner and managed much better had Barchi taken a more direct and assertive approach. Instead, it seems that Barchi has decided to let "things run its course"...confident that the outcome will be fine...And I am not referring to managing PR and press only...even internally he could have put a stop to this nonsense.
Folks in the know are telling me that this Flood matter has no legs, no even sure if minor violations were committed (let alone that everyone involved has stated that no major violations have taken place), but that Barchi hands off approach is allowing for the matter to get more complicated-and as a result NOBODY, I repeat NOBODY wants to make a final decision or issue a resolution...chaotic folks.
A leader is known for making decisions even when they are tough, and in this case it seems Barch inaction is complicating matters.
To sum it up, a simple statement that the matter had been reviewed and that no wrongdoing has been committed would have brought this made up crisis to an end two days ago.
