No limit on the number of OFFERS a school can make. However, there is a limit on the number of OFFICIAL VISITS the school can host per year. That limit is 56. So that serves as a de facto limit of sorts. If a school makes an offer to a player, but doesn't allow him an official visit because of the limit, it likely is either not a serious offer or has little chance of acceptance.

I don't love the strategy of offering 100s of kids. I get we need to cover our bets but creating a sense of exclusivity is a good thing too.

Also - consider that there are numerous factors that buffer the rate of participation in actual "official visits" -
1. A prospect may take a maximum of 5 official expense paid visits
2. Official visits can only begin - First day of classes of the prospect’s senior year in high
school.
3.Before a prospect can make an official visit to an institution, the institution must receive the following documentation:
• A valid score from a PSAT, SAT, PLAN or ACT test.
• A high school transcript.
• Verification that the prospect has registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
