Issa Thiam signs LOI

The livingston dining hall was open, and Doorson was pushing him on a non weight bearing injury/scooter for five months.

Pikiell mentioned a lot of the players were out of shape. As someone who has ate at Livi the past three years, it is easy to gain weight if you are injured and cant run. His injury was bad. I think he probably gained 10-20 pounds.

If he gets it down to normal BMI, we are a decent team that will be able to lessen our 15-30 point blowouts. More like maybe 10-15 tops.

Would a new practice facility eventually mean a place where the team eats meals together?

I do not know if that would be included. You were high on Doorsons game as well, right?I think he is a formidable center if healthy. I think Sa can rotate between 4-5, but will average 6 pts,4 rebounds at this level to start. More competition will help him here.

I do not mind Diallo as a backup. I think his game has a high ceiling, but it will take another year to become a steady 8 and 6 guy. If Doorson is healthy, he is a starter that can help us.

Seems like a lot of our success depends on not even so much having a basketball in hand. Getting down to correct Body Mass Index, and getting stronger.

The teams already eat together after practice at training table meals and with pregame meals. But throughout the day and on campus they eat where meal plans are accepted

Issa good day for RU basketball! I was expecting this news but with RU you can never be sure. He can play. He doesn't need to gain 40lbs or bench 300. He can play the way he is.

I agree. He does need to add support to his frame though. No one is saying bench 300, but 135 and a 200 pound squat is not asking a ton. He is an athlete.

I agree! I don't understand who is advising Foreman that encouraged him to leave. This would have been a really good situation for him to develop as a player. I think RU has solid depth if they can get the bigs healthy. Let's get the NC State transfers and get going!

Who's Foreman?

Class of 2016 with Issa and Candido is shaping up pretty well and with Freeman, Laurent, Doorson and Diallo , the RU front court might be a little better than expected.

Went from a weakness to a serviceable couple of positions.

OK. Sa, Doorson, Diallo
Freeman, Laurent, Thiam
Williams. Dadika, Bullock
Sanders, Johnson, Bhatia--this from Philaphans' roster. Before New Math, 4 3's were 12, a full roster. But there is talk about the Twins and others. WHAT AM i MISSING?

Dadika is a walk on and Bhatia was a coach and now an accountant. There are also 13 possible ships.

Batie is our other returning walk on. At this time we only have 10 scholarship players and two walk ons. We have 3 open scholarships.

Doorson never looked in D1 basketball shape before he was hurt. I can't think of one player who did.

Thiam was a nice get the first time and is even better now. Congrats to the staff, with a special shout-out to Shoes.

If this kid can chuck it like the word being said says...he is a match up nightmare at the four spot

Love the high post four men

Article has him at 6'9" 200lbs. Getting there.

YES and He'll be 220 in no time....at 6'9". When he comes in June to start his eating and workouts.

compares to Tim Thomas, 6'10, 230 or Herve Lamizana, 6'10, 220

Thiam has Plenty of size for a SF or stretch 4.

The game is no longer about big bruisers down low....it's spread the floor, motion, shoot the 3 and penetrate.

Best quote from his AAU coach:

“He has a smoother drop step than another one of my players, like 5–star Udoka Azubuike (Kansas commit). Both of these guys are beasts, but if I had to choose who would win one-on-one, I'd take Issa. He's quicker and has a better outside game.”

Here's an article by Jerry:

Hit 9 3's. We definitely received a versatile player. Him and Laurent will have great competition. Lineups are going to be versatile.

Yes Higgins....... options to go small with Sa, Freeman and three guards or go B1G with Doorson, Sa and Thiam. That's the type of versatility needed to compete.

Laurent will be able to practice against a 6'9 player....instead of 6'2" walkons like year.

Absolutely. Should be great to see how the lineups play out. I always say I was excited before the season starts, but 5 games in the last five years, I was not as excited. Not I am seeing how things play out. Pikiell provides a lot of confidence though.

Has there been any explanation as to why he transferred to ADC? That move just makes no sense at all.

IIRC, when we first heard about him here, he was playing at a school in the Canary Islands of Spain whose coach specialized in prepping players to get scholarships in the USA. So, it that was the case, perhaps he wanted to have time to adjust to playing in the US and adjusting both the American style of play (if there is one such thing) and to living in a foreign country.

ACD. (Arlington Country Day)

I cannot think of a good reason for this unless he, or whoever his guardian/mentor is, has a relationship with someone at ACD. Until that school gets it's academic issues with the NCAA resolved it is too risky, imho, to attend school there.

The school is legitimate. You go there take real classes and graduate. The coach also runs ACD basketball academy. The academy claims to be a prep school, a place to learn to take the SAT/ACT, a place to finish up classes with tutoring etc. I am sure 100% of the basketball team also is enrolled in the academy. I would doubt that 100% of the kids in the academy are students at the school.

Thaim is at ACD. The question is the school or the academy. He could have left his school in NJ and finished up taking online classes through the academy and never been in the school.

Need more info.
