Notre Dame. Schiano was briefly mentioned as a possible Notre Dame HC hire in 2009. Which of course was ridiculous but the mere thought really elevated his brand.

That propelled him onto high profile jobs with the Bucs, Ohio State, and the Pats.

In a nutshell, the Irish rumors propped him up, so when he crashed he fell much further and felt he had to humble himself back at RU.

That’s all irrelevant now though. Glad he’s back! Go Coach Greg! Go Knights!

Building an offensive line, trying to rush the football, and play error free defense and special teams. For a team like Rutgers, this is the process, and one can watch it if they understand what they are witnessing, and not succumb to fake news.

An obvious test of the secondary. That's where most will focus. Robb Smith will have to pressure the QB. What I would watch for is improvement in the DL. People who succumb to fake news will be focused on the secondary, but this is a process, and the process starts upfront. Presently all a Rutgers fan can do is watch for improvement with the existing players. That's the first tell. One needs to understand what they are watching, and believe their eyes and ears, not fake news.

No matter how obvious or unnoticed they may have been in the process, or whether or not you generally agree with them on broader issues, let's mention them. I'll start, in no particular order--these folks are worthy of acknowledgement.

1. The person who donated the use of his/her private jet. Those things are expensive to operate and helped us get over one of the hurdles in the negotiation.

2. Sargeant and Politi, for keeping the issue hot in the media and expressing our outrage at the way the negotiation was initially handled, as well as the logic behind getting Greg back.

3. Jon Newman, for starting the pledge campaign which raised over $300k in about a day.
