His speed when used in a controlled fashion is a huge difference maker. Let's hope he keeps that up.
If he brings his type of game every night we are in good shapeSo maybe that Caldwell game meant something after all. Way to step up, Jacob.0
Of course it did. Anyone who plays basketball knows it. He is getting better and better on offense and his D has been amazing especially since we have lacked a quick defensive guard for a whileSo maybe that Caldwell game meant something after all. Way to step up, Jacob.0
Had only one turnover in garage time too. Needs to watch the film from tonight over and over.If he brings his type of game every night we are in good shape
He has little trouble getting to the rim, he just has to be under control. No problem tonight.
Nebraska has no interior D. I’m sure the rest of the Big will be tougher. He was fun to watch. The patience of Pike was on display.
Wenzel's best play..."give to earl and let him create"There is a reason the coaches give him the green light and never gave him the hook earlier this year
He is shaking off the earl Duncan-itis
The results might be better. That being said his first instincts are to take it himself instead of seeing the floor and deciding what’s the best scoring opportunity.
Also true. Early games we played featured full lineups of smaller and quicker players which took away his edge offensively but he still factored in defensively.I know it sounds cliche, but certain players are more comfortable playing against similar athletes. Instead of thinking the competition in the OOC, would mean Young (& Mulcahy) would be worse, Young specifically has been better vs MSU, Wisconsin, Seton Hall and now Nebraska.
Take the Lafayette and Caldwell games out of the equation. He is still quicker than a good number of guards and creates gaps in the defense.

Yes, Young played well in relief of McConnell, who was only 8-8 with a few rebounds and a few assists. That is hopefully going to carry us while Geo is out. As Lefty used to say, the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores. Maybe that was a one-off for McConnell. And maybe a harbinger. They both average around 8 per game, but Young shoots 39% and McConnell 52%.
