Well there should be deadlines. That’s for sure. So, you guys are seriously advocating for unlimited transfers? It's a mess now, wait till kids can transfer every single year.

Why stop there? Trade deadline is Dec 31.So, you guys are seriously advocating for unlimited transfers? It's a mess now, wait till kids can transfer every single year.
I am advocating for a level playing field. Why does Wake's two-transfer C get cleared a day before our game, but ours is still sitting out? Why did UNC get their WR transfer cleared midseason, but Brantley had to sit all year? The double standards bother my sense of fairness. So, you guys are seriously advocating for unlimited transfers? It's a mess now, wait till kids can transfer every single year.
I won’t like this but I’ll agree with it.With our luck, he’ll be granted a waiver and then suspended for the gambling thingie.
he sort of has been suspended by the NCAA indirectly.Until they change the rules which has been discussed but not finalized (my understanding) how would he not face some sort of suspension?
he sort of has been suspended by the NCAA indirectly.
It doesn't work that way. Those were serious charges
Those charges were already significantly reduced earlier in November by the NCAA....
If the waiver is granted soon then he can sit out the remainder of the first half of the season due to the gambling thing. They dont need to do him a special on an unheard of type waiver
Because of the lawsuit mentioned in the OPWhy are people saying they are going to give him a waiver
I thought it was “if it involves rutgers just bone them”It seems like the NCAA’s approach to everything is “How can we make this process as subjective and convoluted as possible?”
Yea that tooI thought it was “if it involves rutgers just bone them”
he'll be forced to bet on the Jets every weekWhat would the normal punishment be for the gambling thing?
I looked it up a while back and it was like a third of the season or something but nj.com had an article saying full season which seemed extremeWhat would the normal punishment be for the gambling thing?
That’s cruel and unusual punishment.he'll be forced to bet on the Jets every week
You have my blessing. Let him play!!@JudgeSmails56 grant the injunction! Suit him up Saturday!
Getting a waiver this year is huge if the penalty is half a season. If he gets denied a waiver and sits half of next season, that hurts big time“Williams also admitted to placing wagers on other college basketball games. This would mean he would lose half a season of eligibility under the NCAA’s new gambling rules.”
That’s the best I found but if we get past the two time transfer thing would it be 1/2 season from start of the season (like time already served type of deal)?
That’s probably the key.
If the transfer restrictions are deemed illegal then I would think “time served” for the gambling suspension would count.Getting a waiver this year is huge if the penalty is half a season. If he gets denied a waiver and sits half of next season, that hurts big time
I don't think the NCAA will consider sitting out due to transfer as also counting for suspension time
That's a good point. If it does happen this way, and we can figure out a way to stay afloat... the team could make a strong second half pushIf the transfer restrictions are deemed illegal then I would think “time served” for the gambling suspension would count.
Akron and the witnesses for the player apparently did a good job convincing the NCAA of the player's mental health issues in this case, and that he's better off playing at Akron for multiple reasons. Maybe they were able to put some fear of a potential lawsuit in the NCAA if the NCAA denied the waiver and there were unfortunate or tragic consequences down the road too... Each waiver situation is different and the reasons for the waiver requests differ, and each school and involved player's witnesses will vary in how convincing they end up being in the waiver appeal.

A loss today and we can still end December at 8-4. Then, if we can go 11-8 in our remaining B1G games, with both Mag and JW playing (and maybe Ogbole in a backup 5 role), then one win in the B1G tournament would likely get us to the big dance. That's a good point. The question is can we survive and stay alive. A lost today and our OOC resume is irredeemable IMO. I know I keep saying this over and over and over but it's true
Three yearsHow much eligibility does J Williams have left?
I don't think anything is imminent on Williams specifically today, wasn't that just the court ruling?

Last year we were told by the NCAA tournament committee that we were not selected in part because of the season ending injury to Mag. If that’s a valid reason, then we should be given the same consideration if we finish strong this year with both Mag and JW playing, despite our mediocre record in OOC games when those two weren’t available.
