I guess you were not around here when Terry Shea was named Coach of the Year in the Big East while Miami, BC, & VT were still in the league.gee 2014 B10 Coach of the year..why would we want him? SMH..
Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill was named Big Ten Coach of the Year by both the league's head coaches and media today.
Dec. 2, 2014
Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill was named Big Ten Coach of the Year by both the league’s head coaches (Hayes-Schembechler Coach of the Year) and media (Dave McClain Coach of the Year). He is the second Gopher coach ever to win the award and first since Glen Mason, who was honored in 1999 as the Dave McClain Coach of the Year.
Kill, who is in his fourth year at Minnesota, led the Gophers to an 8-4 record and a 5-3 mark in the Big Ten. The Gophers, who were picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten West in a preseason media poll, were one game away from playing for a Big Ten championship.
And that year, RU lost to all of those teams. By a lot. As far as Kill is concerned, unless RU also hires Alex Gibbs, the offense probably won't get any better.I guess you were not around here when Terry Shea was named Coach of the Year in the Big East while Miami, BC, & VT were still in the league.
yes, B10 2014 vrs old Big east from 20 years ago..some comparision.!And that year, RU lost to all of those teams. By a lot. As far as Kill is concerned, unless he brings Alex Gibbs with him, the offense probably won't get any better.

Maybe his offenses were not amazing, but he won at Minny at not everyone does.
RU is not going to take an OC from a winning P5 team. Kill is a great alternative to that.
Pretty much this. We are going to solve the O problem with "limited" (at least compared to our peers) funds by .... hiring two guys with "limited" funds? Confuses me this does.
We don't have limited funds for this hire. Basically a blank check . This is truth - Rutgers ain't messing around anymore
That is not what I am hearing. We don't have limited funds for this hire. Basically a blank check . This is truth - Rutgers ain't messing around anymore
You 'spose Ash gets up in the morning and checks the board to see whom else he might interview? (Not meant as a rag on you, KnightShift, but rather I just got a laugh out of imagining Ash having his coffee, reading the board, and saying, "Damn, I'm going to give that guy a call!"We could get Dan Werner who was fired from Ole Miss.
They were
7-6
8-5
9-4
10-3
5-7, total 39-25 under him. They had a very decent offense this year, and scored 43 points against Alabama.

Werner helped Miami to eight bowls, four national championship games and three national titles during his combined tenure. He also played an integral part in the development of several of the Hurricanes’ greatest QBs, including 2001 Maxwell Award winner Ken Dorsey, 1992 Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta as well as Heisman candidates Steve Walsh and Craig Erickson.
If this is true then Kill shouldn't be the hire and I love Kill. Unless Kill take 400 and we pay another guy 5 to replace an existing coach. We don't have limited funds for this hire. Basically a blank check . This is truth - Rutgers ain't messing around anymore
So no new info?If this is true then Kill shouldn't be the hire and I love Kill. Unless Kill take 400 and we pay another guy 5 to replace an existing coach.

Knight shift asked me:
Roger that. Jim Grobe came out of retirement to interim coach Baylor this year. If Klaeys can't keep the team under control, maybe Kill would go back in an interim capacity?
What was your impression of Kill and your thoughts on him as our OC?
Kill and Minnesota did not have a friendly parting. He wanted to still be part of the program and the school said no. Kill will not be going back to Minnesota except to fish maybe.
I don't recall him really being an offensive or defensive coach. I know he liked very conservative football where you did a lot of 2 back 2 tight end sets and play field position and defense. Kind of wait for you to make a mistake. I don't think he can physically be a head coach any more as doctors won't clear him. That was an issue at Minnesota. Not sure if being an assistant is different. He is a big disciplinarian. Not many 2nd chances with him.
I don't think he fits any part of what Ash has said he wants to do. It will have to be a very good deal for him because he is with his buddy(Snyder) at K State. He may also hope to be Snyders replacement if he can get his epilepsy in check.
Posted this in wrong thread I think.
1) the "disciplinarian" part goes hand-in-hand with how Ash wants to/is running this program
2) again, it appears, he would be brought in as part of a 2-man team for the O with a guy who runs the type of O (power spread) that Ash wants us to run.
How goes it buddy?
That is not what I am hearing.
When Knight Shift speaks, Ash listens. You 'spose Ash gets up in the morning and checks the board to see whom else he might interview? Great news. Then I look forward to the announcement of Urban Meyer as our new OC.We don't have limited funds for this hire. Basically a blank check . This is truth - Rutgers ain't messing around anymore
They're googling that phone number right now. When Knight Shift speaks, Ash listens.
I could reach out to Hobbs, who I know, but I would be way out of bounds doing that, so I will refrain. But Dan Werner would be a home run hire. He's run a spread and a Tempo offense. Ole Miss has a heavier passing emphasis, but any OC worth their salt can adapt.---You hear that Pat and Chris???
Bob Barchi is not signing any blank checks & the donors have already been hit hard this year with the build fund & football upgrades. Hope you are right but that is not what I have heard about being able to pay what is needed to get a top OCI promise..
It doesn't mean we HAVE to spend all we are able , but if needed , we will

Here's the answerWhen I say winning I mean this year, meaning we're unlikely to get someone "hot" after a 2 win season and our budget.
But he certainly has an interesting record. Is he a real candidate? The main names I see are Kill and the Toledo and UNH guys.
Maybe different fans within a single fan base have different ideas? Our fans are strange. Get a young, up-and-coming supposed prodigy ... want him gone after game 1.
He goes.
Have a chance with a well-respected former HC, which sounds like a slam dunk hire. Nah ... I'd rather a young, hungry up-and-comer.
WTF?
I was surprised to read this because I thought he was retired from coaching. But if he wants in, make it happen.
Here's the answer
Haha. And you'd be right. I was married. Didn't much like it. Won't ever do it again.I could have sworn you were married...
The video haunts me, especially after nearly hitting a deer this week. The deer driving the jeep with QOTSA tied to the hood is freaky.Great, now I am going to have that song in my head all night. LOL. It is a classic.
How high is high? 600-700K or 800K-1M? If we are actually able to go higher I could realistically believe the first range is possible would be skeptical about the latter.I've heard he's correct. Hobbs is an excellent fundraiser, so it may be done that way, but we're not stuck at $450K - for the right guy/guys - if we need to go higher. We'll see I guess.

I will be very surprised if Rutgers doesn't go the co-OC route. Kill would be excellent as part of a two headed monster. Pair him with a young guy, and you have guaranteed continuity moving forward. If one leaves, the other is still there and the offense stays intact.
How can we go that route if we only have 1 spot for a coach?
CM in the news:I just don't see the draw.
If we're paying him half a mil and we have to bring in another guy as co-OC then you're talking about 750k / yr, minimum. Maybe closer to 900k, depending on who that other guy is.
For that money you could get the Whole Magilla in one guy.
And I just checked with CM - never heard of Jerry Kill.
