"Joe Paterno is a God"

If PSU fans want to make a stand, they should turn their backs to the field during the commemoration. Especially the student section. That would make a statement.

Like that would happen.

One quote of note from the article from a PoSU alum in response to the editorial:

"Lauren because you were not exposed to this man who gave all his efforts to making Penn State the university that it is today maybe you just do not understand Coach Paterno's contribution to the excellence of a Penn State education and not JUST the football program. Someday Lauren you too will be an alumnus of our beloved university. I fear you will not have a person such as Joe Paterno to look up to and remember how he cared for every Penn State student, not JUST the football team."

I guess the child abuse victims were out of his jurisdiction since they weren't PoSU students

I cannot believe in today's day and age that this isn't headline news. This makes my stomach turn. What Paterno did is defined by the Sandusky case. Period. And for grown men and donors to say anything other than he was a criminal and pathetic person is beyond me. In this case the bad by far outweighs any good.

The words according to a student at PoSU. ESPN had a small segment about their plans to honor the enabler tomorrow.

It's amazing how much press the Kaepernick Anthem stuff gets but you barely hear a peep about a child abuse enabler being honored and revered as if he was Jesus.

You'll see ESPN anchors all day long taking stands about social justice and political action, and that is completely fine in the right context. But I have not once seen an ESPN personality speak about how horribly disgusting Paterno and the University both are

I am guessing the guy wearing the "P" is a future politician.

that's a really great point that I don't recall seeing anyone post about before. Can't have it both ways, although they're trying.
Is my irony detector off kilter? We've talked about this particular hypocrisy and selective memory on the part of the Cult a bunch.

fwiw ive heard different things about those idiots with those shirts. I know for a fact one of them is not a PSU grad at all and is a troll. People said they went to the temple game last year too and they may be temple fans. Either way they are pieces of trash.

No irony. Honestly, I haven't followed the incessant PSU threads much, so I probably missed the specific point about Paterno being totally involved in the past vs. a figurehead in the revisionist history. I recall lots of other examples of selective memory, but not that one.

Each fan base blames the other for them, many Penn State fans never went to Penn State. But, one thing is clear they are real people, those are real T-Shirts and no one wants to take credit for them. Which is good.
