John Severe Transfering from Fordham

RU will most likely pass on him. But when your starting 2 guard shoots under 40% overall and around 30% from 3, it is natural to look at other options.

He average 7+ ppg at Fordham as was a disciplinary problem? No thanks.

He wasn't as much a disciplinary problem as a kid lost on a bad team. He played on a dysfunctional team with a coach waiting to be fired. If u can get him I think Pickles can make him work.

I'll pass on Severe.....At the A-10 Tourney last year, I was talking with a Fordham Dad whose kid plays for Fordham (and was a starter) who told me that Severe is a headcase.......has been in fights with teammates etc...The Dad has NOTHING good to say about him..... Keep away from trouble is my motto...Move on.....

Sounds like a perfect player for SHU

So he enters into a graduate program at Iona ?
- - always wonder what the $$$ arrangement is like in these situations - probably varies from case to case
- am guessing that if they are genuinely serious about picking up that grad degree - they select a 30 credit masters & have an understanding that it is all covered - even if they have to spread it out to an extra semester due to schedule conflicts.
... and if the athlete does not really care if they pick up the MA or MS or MBA - then they just take what ever classes they need to be eligible.

Would seem that if you are going the grad school route to utilize your 4th year of NCAA eligibility, your NBA chances are iffy - yes, you might make some $$$ playing somewhere for a few years - but in the end, your long term future will be enhanced if you actually pick up the grad degree .

It's a 1 year scholarship-----what kids choose to do with it is their choice.

At ND some guys get work done on their grad degree others take course that could get them a double major and an additional BA.

There are many Masters Programs you can't get done in one year but you can get a chunk of it done.

Guys who are NFL prospects historically leave in January after 1 semester and prepare for the Combine or individual pro workouts if they aren't invited at one of the many workout facilities nationally.

an additional BA they could do at their original school - but - to do this transfer without a 'sit-out' don't they have to go to a school with a grad program that is not offered at their original school ( and often it is 'different' by virtue of a technicality )

Severe is a big problem. Kid basically thought he was bigger than the team. He almost transferred last season after being suspended for basically disrespecting his coach and teammates. He has gotten worse over time mainly due to his attitude. How he graduated in three years is beyond my belief. I said he would go to Iona. Anyone who thought he would be Bog East bound has no clue
