Before Michael Vick, Virginia Tech was just another solid college football program. After Vick, everything about the Virginia Tech was elevated from season tickets to stadium capacity to seasonal performance. Before Vick, Virginia Techs highest national finish was Number 10 in 1995, (somewhat in the ballpark of Rutgers Number 12 finish in 2006) Michael Vick led VT to the National Championship game in 1999, and in 2003, VT expanded its stadium capacity by 11K seats. I think Johnathan Lewis can have a similar type impact. By the time he leaves, I hope we can complete the southern end zone upper deck, as the supports are already in place. I have no doubts that he will eventually fill our stadium and sell season tickets.

One thing i'd like him to do similar to Michael Vick, is to redshirt, which will give us adequate time to surround him with more talent which will facilitate his success. It will also put two years between he and Oden. Also year 3 is when we should see the effects of Parkers S&C program REALLY kick in.

With Johnathan Lewis playing QB for Rutgers, the sky is the limit.

I would rather see you post this AFTER signing day not months before.

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything Al ever predicts is ridiculous. One thing to note, "Before Michael Vick, Virginia Tech was just another solid college football program.", we currently aren't a solid program. Actually basement dwellers. I do however think Lewis will be a HUGE upgrade from our current personnel.

This is what happens when the season is already in the dumpster. Looking ahead for the next Moses to lead us out of the mess we are in.
As already noted by others, this is the usual Al kind of post and it is about a guy who has only verbally committed. Sadly, we all know how solid verbals are.
Guess we are no longer the USC of the North.

Didn't Al Say the same thing about Tylin Oden? The kid hasn't even been given a chance and you guys are handing the keys to a guy who isn't even on campus (btw my office overlooks the SPP football field, albeit from 36 floors up, Lewis looks good, I think, I can't really tell who is throwing the ball)

Key there Al is,"just another solid football program". We haven't been anywhere near close to that in several years.

Part of the problem with Al's posts are that he disregards facts. Before Vick, VT was a solid program, but Al casually references highest ranking. RU finished 12th after beating an average KState team in an average Bowl game. Before Vick, VT had been to bowl games in 5/6 seasons and finished ranked those years. 2 Gator Bowls, 1 Music City, Orange Bowl loss to top 5 Nebraska and Sugar Bowl win over top 10 Texas when the finished 9/10. Very solid. Comparable to Rutgers?

Can Jon Lewis be just himself. We're not looking for another Michael Vick. We just want someone who can run the offense, to maximum efficiency.

With Chris Ash at the helm, we once again have a solid program. Now it may take time to show on field results, but we are on the right track.

As soon as I finished reading the opening post I had to look up to see who had posted. I knew it had to be Al. Love the optimism.

You legit dont have any proof, stats or anything to back that up. U also promised 8 wins. Take of the Scarlet colored glasses. Ash will be a good coach whether it be here or his next endeavor. We just dont have the appeal yet to bring him to that in the near future.

Get him here first, then let' s talk.

Well, now you've done it - that will encourage Al to put together a Savon-like recruiting video and who knows what will happen then.

As a pure aside, while I will not get excited until he signs, IMHO, if he signs, he'll have a very good shot at starting from Day One and for 3 years (until he goes early in the draft). His ceiling is very high.

Michael Vick had offensive lines that blocked people. What RU needs is 5 someones who can have a Pedro Sosa, Mike Fladell, Darnell Stapleton, Cameron Stevenson, and Jeremy Zuttah effect on the program.

I think RU leads the nation in anointing superstars who've either never played a college game or piled up impressive stats against overmatched opposition. Let's see the magic against legitimate B1G opponents before getting carried away.

Unless Ash moves on to another program...four years and he may be looking for his next move...

If Michael Vick was coming out of high school today he'd be the #1 recruit in the country. Getting somewhat of a dual threat doesn't equal Michael Vick. We're lucky is Lewis even equals Cardale Jones.

In that case, he'll have already demonstrated four years of progress, making things easier for the next guy.

By Jon Lewis' redshirt freshman year, we will have a VERY GOOD OL that blocks people. The future is bright:

LT - Tariq Cole (Senior)
LG - Micah Clark (Redshirt Freshman)
C - Zach Venesky (Jr)
RG - Marcus Applefield (Senior)
RT - Kamaal Seymour (Jr)

I'm with Al! I mean BOTH stadiums are known to "rock it out" to Metallica songs so that's a start!
