Are there really insights there. I see a lot of after the fact story telling and not much in the way of accurate prediction.

Why don’t you take a free trial and find out? I let my premium expire a while back and didn’t renew because the whole recruiting thing got too nutty for me - flips, guys announcing their final 12 or 8 schools, etc. Now things are extra crazy but more fluid and immediate so premium may be a good investment. One thing I can say is the podcasts that Richie posts are excellent.

Premium on either site, for me, is much more about the articles with insights on the teams, coaching, players, etc - some excellent content on both sites. I don't really care about "scoops" per se, because the average scoop is out on Twitter and the free boards, etc. within minutes to an hour or two, with very few exceptions - and I don't give a crap about hearing them first.

One good aspect of being a premium member is the ability to have private conversations with other members. I have chosen not to be a premium member, but it is certainly worth considering and certainly worth a free trial.

One bad aspect of being a premium member is that, as I understand it, premium membership gives one the ability to read the Current Events board. I find myself incapable of ignoring much of the nonsense that's posted there, and reading it interferes with my enjoyment of nonpolitical posts by many of those who post there.

It's not in the standard forums menu drop down but available to those that want to partake in those discussions. You are only going there if you really want to read it and conversations related to that board are highly frowned upon on the Round Table and will result is comments being removed or the thread closed.

Premium may have helped you understanding the Davis situation

Backyard boxing is growing in popularity with high school kids

There’s not that much. You are not wrong. At least most “insight” you can pull together on your own. Maybe the most value is from other posters. But some share on the basketball board too.

I have premium. Indeed most news is broken by the kids themselves these days. You’ll see it in your feed in near real-time, often before a mod at any site posts it. Heck more than half the time there is a committment a board member posts it first.

Premium is worth it for the camp news, camp performances, understanding who is visiting where, and what offers are real. Most everything else is common knowledge info sharing or opinion.

The Ace Bailey to Rutgers info was posted in a thread on the Roundtable. Or is it Round Table?

Not every prediction comes in a thread with a thread title that makes it obvious that a prediction is being made.

Many publishers don't want to make things obvious to the non-subscribers.

Interesting; the CE board is on the list of forums that I see now as a non-premium member. I can see the titles of the threads and the name of the last poster -- everything but the content of the posts. Are you saying that's different for a premium member? I don't want to be tempted to read the posts.

Can you click on the thread and read the actual content or is that hidden because you don’t have a premium membership?

The CE board is not visible from the main forums drop down menu that most use to navigate the various boards. One has to select "all forums" from that drop down menu and then the CE forum as a forum choice is visible, so it's slightly hidden. But without premium one can only see the thread titles on that board, which are, as usual, 95% nutty right wing conspiracy crap (including a few completely fake story threads by a mod), but the content of the posts is only visible if one has premium...and that content is even worse than the thread titles, if that's possible. And people wonder why I don't post there any more, especially the CERWCJ regulars constantly tagging me in a sad attempt to get me to post there again. Echo chamber defined.

No, I cannot read the actual content because I don't have a premium membership. If I really want, I can look at the thread titles and shake my head in amazement or dismay. But I can't read the content -- and I want to keep it that way!

Thanks for the explanation. I do select "all forums" because I want to easily see what's happening in the football, men's and women's basketball, and Rutgers issues forums. I used to post in the Current Events forum and one of the prime right-wing members actually praised me for adding value. But it's just too upsetting. There is a new frequent poster there with whom I absolutely don't want to engage -- I know this because of his, her, or its posts in the forums I do visit. Worse, there are several posters there who are quite good when they post in our sports forums and it would spoil my enjoyment of their sports posts to read their stuff in the CE forum.

This is an overlooked benefit of premium...

Eh. Is it?
Someone has twice sent me a private message about a topic we were discussing as if I cared about their additional credentials (which could have just been posted publicly and really added nothing to the topic). I never responded.
I even said "don't bother sending me a other private message" in the middle of the disagreement. And they sent one anyway haha.

On desktop you can usually see the first 3 or 4 words of the OP if you click on the thread title.
Then the rest is restricted.

That's very unfortunate. When I was a premium member, I occasionally sent private messages, but only to people whose posts I liked. But your experience doesn't surprise me -- there are too many posters here who need to be in a straitjacket. Unfortunately, management can't or won't restrain them.
