Now we get one card, which is good for the whole season, per seat. If we aren't going to a game and are giving/selling our tickets to a Rutgers fan (or, perish the thought, someone else), an email transfer can be effected through the website for that game. Parking passes are the way they've been, so hard copies in the glove compartment will continue.

Who else is renewing?

Mike, I renewed mine last week and was told the same. I'm looking forward to the season. I actually got a senior discount for the first time. I never knew they had this before. Maybe it is the first time otherwise I paid too much for several years. Better late than never.

Art, the perks are endless. Look for williams and foreman to emerge thos year. Well see a high energy laurent as well.

I was also told that you can get hard copies of specific game tickets printed out by the ticket office if an electronic transfer is not possible.

Does anyone know how this would work if the tickets are sold through a 3rd party like stubhub? I know stubhub would issue a barcoded USPS shipping label and payment was issued after tickets were delivered. Just wondering how it would work with email through stubhub.

Agreed. I still like having all of my paper tickets. My red bulls membership for next year will be on a card though.

its it mandatory to receive the card instead of the tickets? BK..Im old school like you, I love the ticket stub but looks like progress might be making it extinct

I think though it raises issues when you are giving tix away it becomes a hassle having to go through an email.

Just called and renewed. Took the card. He said its no special tickets in a book form. Just regular tickets. You can switch to tickets if the card thing doesn't work for you.

Also saved 144.00 on the senior price. The rep said they had something like that years ago that was grandfathered in and then this year started it up again. He was surprised at the savings.

Just got my confirmation email. Don't know but for some reason he gave me a SC discount too. Well....I feel old sometimes.

I renewed as well and said no thanks to the card. I'd lose that thing game two plus I don't want to deal with the headache of transferring tickets when I give them to friends.

They will still send you a book if you ask. If they ever go to the cards only It would be a debacle.

I renewed a few weeks ago and stuck with the regular hard tickets since that is what I'm used to. Maybe I will switch to the card in future in the future some time but I am interested to see how it works out for people. Lets go RUTGERS!!

what? you are old enough for a senior's discount?

For those on the fence about renewing, season tickets are $306 for youth, senior citizens, and Rutgers faculty/staff. Regular price is $450.Ticket office phone number is 866-445-4678 and open Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00.

I renewed last week also and took the senior discount for the first time. I also moved back to Section 203 where I was for many many years from Section 102. Saved a bundle of money. Even though there's no SASF for the seats I'll still make the contribution for the same amount and spread it around in the RFund.

I'm a young season ticket holder (i.e. I'm 30 + years from qualifying for this Senior Discount) and I still want the hard tickets. The nostalgic in me keeps my ticket stubs, what am I going to do with a card as a keepsake? I mentioned to my ticket rep if there was an additional incentive to go to the card (i.e savings on the "administrative fee" since printing probably costs more) or as one of the posters said, a rewards system, I'd be game.

my ticket rep called me and just said I would be getting the season card, it seemed like there was not a choice by what she was saying... I would have opted for the hard copy tickets had I known, but I will just let it go for this season, see how it works out... I rarely have to give away tickets anyway.

thanks to those who mentioned the senior discount, I called my rep yesterday and she said they would deduct it from the final
installment

Hope we are all not getting the senior discount when we finally get back to The Dance. $$$$

This was my experience, too, and it's bullshit. I'm not freaking, but it's bullshit that we weren't told there was an option. They could have asked us to take the new card since it's cost effective or whatever, but give us an option if there is one.

My understanding is that Rutgers is going to an all-electronic ticket program, piloting this year with basketball. That means no more paper tickets (and if there are no major glitches, no paper tickets for football next year).

Season ticket holders get a card that gets scanned to get you into the game. If you want to transfer tickets, it is electronic, with the recipient printing the single game access barcode at home. (I suppose you could transfer the ticket to yourself, if you want a print-at-home ticket, or to show the barcode on your smartphone.)

So how do you actually sell the tickets to a game or give them away under this new system ?
And say I have two tickets , keeping one and having a friend meet me in the arena with the other . How does that work ?

The actual details might be different, but it will be something like: You log into your ticket account and you transfer the ticket to the other person. They then have a pdf emailed to them. (Or you can transfer the ticket to yourself, so you get the pdf. Then you can send it via email or paper to someone else.)

I see a big problem if they do this for football...how would you sell extras on stubhub or the private market..
--------
Yes, I will resist football tickets not being hard copy, I buy for a big group and they often have to give to someone else

bac, it's not much of a problem. As a Jets season-ticket holder, I had to start dealing with a card last season. For games I'm not attending, I can send a pdf to myself, then upload the pdf for sale on StubHub or Ticketmaster TicketExchange... or simply e-mail the pdf to a friend or co-worker.
