Kante

Looking more and more like Michigan may not be the destination. Heard from a great source yesterday. Pitt will be very involved through an assistant coach there.
I guess that's a positive for Rutgers (not having to play him or being in the league). Thanks.

If it is based on academics - I think it was stated in another thread that UM and RU have the same standards do not sure we can get him here IF that is the reason.

Pikiell does a lot of coachspeak but one thing he says that I think he really believes in is that he wants people that want to be at Rutgers. In general he doesn't pursue players who have turned him down before -- Hyatt is the big exception.

I've heard that his former AAU coach @ NY Rens is now an assistant at Pitt so he has a connection. Hopefully the Gavin connection is stronger than his Pitt connection and we can bring him back into the fold.

Won’t be MD. One scholarship left and Dickinson sweepstakes is gonna go into May probably.

Not sure if there's also a NY Rens guy at Pitt, but according to what Papa Kante said in interviews before committing to Michigan, his guy at Memphis is Andy Borman, (formerly the executive director of the Rens), and his guy at Pitt is Gilbert Brown (formerly an associate coach at Kante's South Kent high school.) (Kante's five finalists prior to committing to Michigan were Michigan, Rutgers, Maryland, Pitt, and Memphis.)

I think Kante won't end up at RU for the same reason he didn't end up at RU to begin with.
Pike isn't going to tell him he'll play the perimeter and shoot threes and I think other coaches have no problem telling a kid whose skillset is a 5 that they'll do those things.
Based on nothing other than watching Papa a few times and listening to a bunch of what Pike has said.

Michigan comments seem to attribute it to failure to qualify academically. Not sure if he’d qualify at Rutgers if that’s the case.
