Karl Hobbs leaves Rutgers for assistant job at Georgia Tech

Latest word going after Kevin Ollie. Want him to develop the bigs. McConnell falls to second. Negotiations all day with Knight.
What is there to negotiate with Knight? It doesn’t seem that he has a head coaching offer so what leverage does he have to renegotiate?

Knight was the lead recruiter for Bailey and still is for Harper.
That’s fine, but it’s not like he has a HC offer on the table. Not really sure why we would be negotiating anything right now, he recently got a big bump.

Are their recruiting clauses in the contract based on 4- and 5-star players that sign LOI?

I’ll tell you what if we lose this kid I’ll be bummed looked really promising, but maybe if he’s willing to bolt at the last minute he would just do this a year from now to us…

Take his spot and go get a player with 3 or so YOE left who uses his 1st transfer to come to us.
Then he he to stay.
NCAA locked down 2nd transfer, so if you get someone to transfer in he’s basically staying unless he has eligibility as a grad transfer or wants to sit out a year.

I dont know... If Hobbs is Pike's guy, he wouldnt burn bridges like that. From what I hear, Pike will go out of his way to protect his people, and I would expect the same from people who worked with him.

If Hobbs takes a recruit with him, thats burning a bridge big time...

Ndongo looks like he will become a beast. If I was Hobbs, I would try to bring him with me too. Sucks for us, but I understand

Maybe Hobbs wasn’t asked to stay.

There is a whole other thread where people are taking about kids sticking with a head coach and school even if their primary recruiter left. Guess it’s all about who you know best.

I wouldn't burn bridges like that. Shows your character at your next job interview.
If he was the head coach and then moved to another school, thats different story. Head Coaches can bring recruits...

yea i would think kids commit, based on alot of factors, not just your lead recruiter. I would think head coach is more important. Unless recruiter has some kind of family connection, which could have high factor.

Call me crazy but hobbs leaving is a good thing for the program. He is old. Is he really working his a** off like a young hungry assistant would? This allows Pikiell to elevate Brandon and TJ who have both been doing great jobs on staff. Now bring in a young hungry 3rd assistant at a good price. that can help keep the momentum going...

First of all, there is no Brandon on our staff. Secondly, Brandin makes much more money than Hobbs and had been elevated over him a while ago.
