Football Kay’Ron Adams enters transfer portal

Good running back with good speed but seems stiff and straight line to me. That's fine when you have a good hole but not so much when you need to make something out of very little which is often the case with RU OL.

That's too bad. The young man had a lot of potential ! Best of luck to him.

Thought he was our best pass catcher out of the backfield, a little upset unless it means we have someone better coming in...

Question for those who know... If a player goes into the transfer portal but doesn't get interest from schools that he would like to play for. Can that player come back to RU (or the original school that he was at) if the coach still wants him back?

Dude had 4 catches. One for 62 yards which is good. But the other 3 averaged 3 yards per catch. Same story with his running. He had one good game at Indiana. Then he averaged 3 yards a carry. He was also 3rd on the depth chart. People are overestimating him because he plays for RU. If you watched him play as an opponent, you wouldn’t be too worried to have him on the opposing side (sorry, you just wouldn’t).

It's not that he didn't know talent. He just had a hard time consistently landing talent because he could not figure out a clear vision for the program (particularly on the offensive side), nor could he be bothered to drive around the state to see players and coaches.

IIRC Kay'Ron was the only Ohio recruit in Ash's four classes.

Brendan Bordner too.

I thought Ash couldn't recruit

I could be off, but didn't Sitkowski enter the portal for a hot minute before backing out? I think it's possible, but extremely rare.

I liked him because he had other offers and chose us. Seemed to be a RB that could become our HR hitter. Unfortunately with our OL play there wasn't much chance of him becoming that person unless they designed some special plays. I guess we'll never know unless he has success elsewhere. Too bad he chose to move on unless there is more to the story.

Since what year 2017-2018
Just comparing this past year. He seemed to be able to move the pile and add a little spark when he came in. Not about to claim him as our best back, but he was getting playing time for a reason and was effective at times. Oh well, move on.

A Flacco-Adams backfield would have been curious to see under Ash. Can’t say didn’t have some personnel at any position

Was a good change of pace back in the system . I think we will be getting our own portal transfer RB soon.

One good thing is we have a RB in the 2021 Class coming in from East Orange who had offers from Michigan, Purdue, West Virginia, Virginia, Minnesota, etc.

Al Shadee Salaam is an entirely different RB in the sense of size and he may be a DB here?

Ridiculous thing to say after seeing how upset people are after losing Adams.

Also what about Fogg, Melton, Fatukasi, Young, Jones, Izien, Turner?
Wow 7 solid players out of 118 over the course of 4 years. Those are really good odds in recruiting.

not sure. We got 2 outstanding DBs in the incoming class : Clark & Loyal.
With high level CB’s Young , Avery, and Max Melton returning next season not sure Salaam will be a CB.
If he puts a few pounds on maybe our RB.

According to Rivals coming out of HS he had one other P5 offer. He was a hot recruit for MAC level or below (12 out of 16 offers) schools where I'm sure he'll did very well and I wish him the best.
Good luck Kay'ron and make sure you get that diploma!!!

Sort of. He was buried on the depth chart, with more speed WRs coming (meaning less chances for putting rbs in the slot).

A loss but not unexpected. He wants more touches.
Rutgers is all about family and team .

Yes they may return. All the portal is notifying coaches and giving them permission to contact you about transfering.

Players can return if they decide before the semester ends that they entered the Portal in. Once a new semester starts and they are still in the portal then they can only return if the school they have a scholarship with wants to continue the scholarship

Young averaged 3 yards a carry and Adams 4.5 a carry. Better player but I figured he would go. 4 carries a game was a joke.

What position suffers more injuries on average ? Perhaps more than on the lines . I would put DB’s on the Rutgers list . Simply because of the amount of tackles made by them in the course of a season. We need plenty of DB’s since many play on the KO and specials.

Drat. That hurts. He looked good and provided a nice change of style and pace.

I can certainly understand him wanting more touches, what great athlete doesn't want the ball more? But I wonder if there was more to it. I would've thought that he'd be getting more touches over the course of the next 3 years. I'm guessing there's more to this than meets the eye.

I hear you but we are razor thin on RBs. With Adams leaving we only have what 2 RBs left: Isiah and Young.
Hopefully Kyle Monangai can step in the position next year. We probably need Salaam at RB.

It's his forte.

I don't know why he is so butthurt by Ash losing football games. By all accounts he's a fine football coach and elite defensive coordinator. Perhaps he wasn't ready to be a head coach but at least he was able to work with Hobbs and get some much needed upgrades done to our facilities and gave Schiano a roster of hungry kids to build off of.

I don't want to defend Ash because his record was terrible and had no offensive identity but I firmly believe he left Rutgers better than he found it. Flood had abandoned ship on 2015 and 2016 recruiting. Hard to get going with 2 lost years.

Enough of the past. Let's go GREG!!!!!

You couldn't be bothered enough to say one good thing about Ash. An absolute miserable Rutgers fan if I ever did see one. You must be a real joy.

You don't know my relationship with the coach or his family. But he took a job in the public eye and deserves an honest evaluation of his performance. I'm not a Pollyanna and call it as it is. Sorry I hurt your feelings. 👜

To make you feel better: Ash is a handsome man.
