Reading these boards the past few days has been worse than watching the game on Saturday.

People forget that just a few short years ago, even getting into the Big Ten was a pipe dream. We were languishing in the AAC and the absolute best most of us hoped for was getting into the ACC and even that looked bleak. Now we are in arguably the elite academic/athletic conference in the country.
This will bring in tremendous revenue and visibility.

Some of us can still remember sitting on those old wooden benches with the flies swarming around us in a glorified high school stadium. Today we play in a state-of-the-art stadium with a tailgate environment that many of never dreamed could happen.

We finally have an AD who gets it and is going to run our sports programs like a big-time university should be run. His first two major hires have been home-runs and in just a short period of time has made tremendous in-roads in raising funds.

We now are part of a teaching/medical school and we are making infrastructure investments that bode well for future recruitment. And the town of New Brunswick is light years better than when a lot of us attended as students.

The bottom line is the future is extremely bright but we are all just going to need a little patience which I realize is tough to ask given our history.

Even with lack of play-makers, I can still see us winning 4-6 games.

We all have much to be grateful for.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised with the board's reaction to Saturday. Most seem to recognize a need for patience.

If anything, it seems like there are more threads stating we need to be patient than threads claiming that Ash is a failure and that things will never get better.

I was prepared to do a 'let's be patient' thread, but saw that the territory was well covered.

Ok, that's right. . .with Rutgers, it's always about comparing the current debacle to the debacles of the past.

1. "Hey, We're bad, but we used to be even worse."

is the never ending mantra.

2. followed by attacking the messenger, and accusing them of trolling

Repeat, Ad Nauseum.

Just hoping Washington turns out to be a Playoff Team and just the worst possible first game match-up for us.

We'll find out soon enough if we have coaches who can coach up and know their x's & o's.

I don't care if we lose half our games, but I am tired of waiting for good solid execution, decision making, and competitive football.

So let's trend up week to week and I'll sit back and relax.

Not at all. My point is that the pieces are in place for us not repeat the failures of the past because the infrastructure is in place for future success. So enjoy the process.

But if you choose to remain miserable, then be my guest.

Staying mostly on the Rt, I'm not familiar with El Stupido. But between this thread and his attacking of Muller in another thread, he has fast tracked himself onto the ignore list;)

I'm not miserable. I'm pragmatic. In fact, I wish I didn't care as much.

for example, when Muller was getting mauled, how come Coach Ash didn't have Nelson start double teaming the UofW DT.

it's a simple adjustment, and when I see a coach, not make that correction right away, it's a huge red flag.

You want me to be patient with recruiting, so be it.

But when it comes to simple adjustments, like calling for the Center to double team the DT, I simply cannot let that slide.
