Kwe Committed

this is awesome news. Great get for the coaching staff. These back to back to back solid recruiting signings is what has been missing the past two decades

Whoooaaaaaa. Fantastic news, but we've not seen either one in a college game yet. Haven't we seen enough "savior" pressure? Besides, Jordan/Dabney was pretty special. And while I never saw Valvano/Lloyd, I've heard a lot and seen the numbers.

I also recall Wenzel having a backcourt with a lot of "stars." I know Corey is a 4-star, but how highly is Kwe rated?

Regardless, welcome aboard! Nice job Eddie. Now the real work begins -- for everybody.

Yes...yes...yes..yes...oh, and one more thing...YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELCOME to the Rutgers family, Mr. Parker!! :cool2:[banana]

Kwe is also a 4-star recruit, same as Corey.

Agreed. But as exciting as this news is they will have some job to compete with the Jordan-Dabney backcourt or, years before, the Bobby Lloyd-Jim Valvano duo. We'll be in great shape if they turn our to be half as good as those combos.

I believe that Valvano used to tell a story about he and Lloyd combined for 50 points in one game. Lloyd had 46 of them.

Getting ready to see some history ... Great to see recruits take the challenge ... first B1G Ten title, making NCAA, making a run in the NCAA ... Turning point of the program ... Chance to be a legend.

This is incredible !!! A real show is coming to the RAC in 2017 !! So excited for this team !!

Now we need a mega star big and we could start talking competing for the Big Ten title

Very nice get. Kwe is certainly a part of a puzzle that can elevate RU from our post-Rice depths.

It was always going to take some time to turn over this roster, and Eddie didn't get the advantage of the "new car smell" a new HC normally gets due to the stink ESPN and others stuck on the program from the Rice incident.

As for Kwe, he is a bit like Etou in that he is a kid with raw tools that need to be developed. The athleticism will help RU Day 1, and (this is not meant as a knock) he won't be/isnt as "college ready" as a kid like Sanders. That said he is a nice add and elevates the athleticism of the RU squad the day he arrives on campus.

Congrats to Eddie. Nicely done.

Excellent Monday Morning surprise thread. Thanks and Welcome aboard.

How is this young man's first name pronounced?

YESSSS!!! I was definitely starting to get nervous but always believed he would eventually come here. I guess my blind RU support worked out for once!

if 100% healthy this winter and spring, might be a different recruitment for Parker.....downgrade is fine if based on last 6 months when he was sidelined for a good chunk of time. What he'll be in a year down the line is more critical as he approaches his senior year.

This makes me very happy, not because Parker is a great get, but because he is another great get. I think I will really enjoy watching the tempo of the team that Jordan is assembling.

I honestly don't know much about his game other than that he is a ridiculous leaper. IF he accompanies that athleticism with high energy, defensive intensity, and a desire to learn/improve then I think the rawness of his game is not as big of a deal. However, if he has the attitude of a high flying dunk = good basketball then the rawness could be an issue. Again, I have no idea, just stating what i'll be watching for when he comes to the banks.

Good stuff. Best of Luck to KP on his career at Rutgers. Your potential is limitless.

RRRRR

it's funny. You get to the point where you don't believe anything positive about RU. This is very big news and it ampiflies the Corey Sanders signing by a a factor of of 2x. The BIG is not used to players like Kwe and dens like the RAC. This creates a different way of scoring,,,away of going on runs and bunch scoring that makes RU a threat, I only hope Eddie knows how to unleash this kind of team.

If EJ's play at RU is any indication, I think he knows how to use that kind of talent. I've been praying for decades for a coach that would actually run. A lot said they would, but it never materialized. Maybe this time....

Nice pickup. I think the plan is clear.

By next year he hopes to have a NIT caliber team and by year 5 at least NIT and maybe sneak into the NCAAs.

I just want to caution those who think a Sanders/Parker backcourt will be really good in the Big 10 and take Rutgers to new heights, at least immediately. Let's get a reality check though. I understand rankings are not everything but both ESPN and Scout came out with their 2016 rankings and Parker did not make the top 100 in either.

Put that into perspective. Last year Indiana had a backcourt of Yogi Ferrell and James Blackmon, Ferrell was a Junior and Blackmon was a Freshman. Both are studs and former McD's AA. Neither Sanders nor Parker are considered anywhere near the class of either when they came out of high school.

And both have proven to be terrific in college. But look at IU's last 2 years. Missed everything in 2014 and barely snuck in the back door to the NCAA's after collapsing late in 2015 to finish 20-14 and 9-9. Essentially a modest season for a big time program. And that happened last year with a backcourt of not one but TWO STUDS. Not to mention Crean is a proven winner in big time competition.

You see what I mean in terms of what it will take to win in the Big 10. Forget winning just be middle of the pack.

Heck Ohio St had D'Angelo Russell last year and barely made the NCAA's as well and was essentially a middle of the pack Big 10 team with one of the best guards in the country.

Fair points. No realistic Rutgers fans should expect an NCAA team in 2016. Sure we can all dream but I don't think anyone expects us to make that big of a jump. I think the NIT would be a reasonable goal. One thing that the Sanders/Parker combo should bring for sure is some excitement to the RAC and some more butts in the seats. That would be a start.

2017 and 2018 we should start to see some big improvements.

.
Good post, michstfr. I would have given it a like except for that. I understand what you're saying, but a program and a fanbase has to aspire to win.

michstfr,
thanks for pointing out we shouldn't get to high over Parker committing, but since it's been a long time RU fans felt little hope I'll go overboard and dream of an NCAA appearance with a back-court of Sanders and Parker.
Because I want to be optimistic and know it won't be just them that will bring the Dance to RU
I expect Jordan and his staff not to stop with Parker and bring in some more good gets and possibly a better team
then you might think Rutgers is capable of putting out.

I understand Parker's stock did fall, but I feel his injury had a lot to do with that .
