Laviano: 11-27 152 yds. 1 yd rushing

Agree that we need better play from QB.

The positives I saw was that he learned to throw the ball away. Did have that one nice long ball as well.

The cheers that went up when Laviano threw the ball away says all you need to know about his development. To echo the other posters, this style of offense needs a QB that is an effective and willing runner. Without that, the running game is utterly predictable. There was a point in the 3rd quarter when RU ran the same inside zone play 6 times in a row. Against the better teams RU is about to face, that isn't going to work without dominant OL play, and we have yet to see that this season.

At this point, I think it is safe to say his learning has been impacted.

Next?!!!

He sucked but the OL didn't give him much help.
Dude they were bringing the kitchen sink, bath tub, hell the entire friggin house at the OL. They played eight in the box and brought three guys on pass plays. What the hell did you expect them to do. They did this daring us to throw and our QB simply couldn't complete a pass. So they kept doing it. Sorry but this was not on the Oline.

The excuse about the OL not being good or whatever is not valid - this offense is made by the QB scrambling out of the pocket/being mobile. When you leave the pocket it doesn't matter how the linemen block, they can't really do it in the traditional sense in that case anyway. But Laviano is immobile (24 rush yds after 25% of the season) and when he does scramble he cannot get the ball to not hit the turf or he throws it well behind the receivers.

The biggest play on O in the 4th qtr yesterday was the unsportsmanlike penalty vs. New Mexico ... think about that for a moment.

The O got going after we hit the long TD. Need to stretch the field, vertically and horizontally. Way too many defenders in the box.

A lot of fans don't agree with you or the coaches. I think he is the best practice player but doesn't give us the best chance to win.
Don;'t care what you thinnk.

If we play another kid all game we have a chance to lose this game. We won and his big pass is part of the reason why. Would like to see some running QB as a change of pace more often though.

If you take away all of our big plays we lose the game.

If you take away all of Washington's big plays we have a chance to win that game.

Sounds silly huh?

Actually it doesn't. Washington had multiple big plays. Blind was referring to a single play, which skewed the numbers. If you removed one of Wahington's big plays they still had 5-6 other big plays. When the coaches grade the film on the game yesterday the home run ball will have equal weight to any one of the numerous other throws that CL made

11-27 Against New Mexico- just wait until our next 3 games those stats will look even worse. The only positives from yesterday no sacks, he threw the ball away to avoid 3 sacks and he threw no int's.

Look, CL seems like he is trying and fans, rightly/wrongly, have been tough on him. But 2 of the few things you can control in life is your attitude and your mouth. CL said some semi disturbing things post game on the radio. Asked about his play, etc. he said something along the lines of (I'm paraphrasing) - "I don't care about any of that stuff, we won, that's all that counts." It came off kinda badly over the air. Maybe he was just frustrated and venting. Not sure if that is how he really feels. If so, and I were the coach, I'd be more worried about that than his rush stats.

I really wish Laviano had gone 22 for 27, 356 yards and 3 TD's, and that we had lost the game. I'd feel much, much better about that.

Yes, he said that, and to be fair, before saying that, hew as his toughest critic and recognized he had a bad game.

Cared enough to respond.

I do AGREE with you that if we played another QB could have lost. BUT we could have also scored 4 more TDs and won too.

Allen had his shot and blew it. Two looks for TD and blew both.
Lol really. I don't know where some of your guys come up with this crap. You are not graded on 6 snaps 2 or 3 of which you handed off. Do you think before you actually type

His ceiling is unfortunately to low for the competition we are about to face. Since we really never get to see the other guys get a chance to develop it will be another unproductive year for that position.
When the ceiling is zero to low, planes are grounded..
