As someone that was actually pulling for Rettig, I respect Flood's decision as it was a tough and clearly judging by the board, an unpopular one. Instead of all the conspiracy theories, maybe Laviano flat out won the job on merit. We don't know what's going on in the film room, but from the field, maybe, just maybe Laviano was more consistent throughout the whole process..
Hoping Chris proves all the doubters wrong and runs away with the job.
Spring Game:
Laviano: 8 for 10, 140 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs
Rettig: 4 for 7, 37 yards, 0 TDs and 0 INTs
1st Scrimmage:
Laviano: 9 for 15, 129 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT
Rettig: 8 for 10, 121 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs
2nd Scrimmage:
Laviano: 10 for 15, 123 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs
Rettig: 10 for 17, 144 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs
Norfolk State:
Laviano: 4 for 4, 138 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs
Rettig: 9 for 11, 110 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs
Overall:
Laviano: 31 for 44 (70.4%), 530 yards, 11 TDs and 1 INT
Rettig: 31 for 45 (68.9%), 375 yards, 5 TDs and 0 INTs
Instead of pitting Team Laviano vs. Team Rettig, we should be happy that we have two very good Qbs..
