250 years since our charter is a huge deal and I think all alumni should take a pledge today to spread some Rutgers spirit and to spread the love on social media. If we can get national attention for creating a GoFundMe page, then I do not see why we cannot gain attention for celebrating our 250th year and the rich history of Rutgers that spans more than just a football game!

Hard to be excited. So much is wrong with our U that I dont even know where to begin. A pr savvy university could have done something special with the gofundme. instead they told us gof*@#you

That is really discouraging, realizing that the people who run the show are completely incompetent

Sorry this University and I have very little in common these days.

Exactly what I am trying to say...it's more than just the past couple of years...its the past 250 years...the amount of history that Rutgers and its alumni have taken part in is amazing! I'm only asking for a day of pause...we can fire flood tomorrow just not today

If you really think that then there is no point to discuss anything. 250 years is amazing, but there are those of us who choose to reflect on the past, and those of us who worry about the future. I don't even say that negatively, its simply difference of mindset and that is ok. I'm the type of person who likes to hustle, and grind and work towards something. In fact its probably going to be my downfall someday since i never really stop and smell the roses, but its also what makes me successful. That moment that you stop to reflect, is the moment i'm passing you.

Lets stop harassing each other.

Yes, that really hit like a punch in the gut.

They could easily have said something along the lines of:

This is an unauthorized and counterproductive fundraising effort, however we appreciate the active engagement of Rutgers alumni and fans in helping to shape the future of our university and the university's sports programs. The number one priority of the university athletic program at this time is to reduce the operating deficit and we welcome all contributions that enable us to to meet that goal. Rather than accepting these donations, The Rutgers University Foundation is refusing them, we are asking GoFundMe to reverse and return the donations and are suggesting that donors redirect donations to key areas of athletic department need as identified in our master plan and the current fiscal year plan. These areas of need include the following...

As graduates of RU and or fans....You know this is the reason...Do you need to be told this?Smh

Look at me I'm unhappy with the school, contacting SL, totally counterproductive, childlike,

Since you posted this you get it but did you still do the Gofundme? Taking the schools Legal fundraising Acct number is illegal without their permission , key word:permission. Yes they publicize it on website, As required by law not for someone to take and deceive public the RU sanctions the gofundme acct

No it's not. Crowdfunding happens all the time through different channels to support different causes with and without the direct participation of the charitable or philanthropic organization. It's an effective way to engage small donors in broad-based viral campaigns.

Time RU and NJ folks got with the 21st century.

If I put up a It's Rutgers 250th Anniversary Year, Let's All Support RU GofundMe today by donating $2.50, $25.00, or $250.00 to the RU Foundation, do you think they would shut it down?

It was very clear that the money was going to the RU Foundation which is a general fund.

RU did not have to ask to have it taken down, nor did they have to pull out the legal hammer.

Problem is RU always focuses on legal and financial risk while continually ignoring reputational risk (which impacts our funding potential).

Apathy is worse than hate. Haters care enough to be flipped. Apathy does not look back.

Rutgers. Incompetent For 250 Years...

A small addition to the paraphrased line that might make that very accurate description even more on point would be - Rutgers: Incompetent for 250 Years...(and counting).

Their slogan for this should be

"We provide inadequate bussing between campuses so you cannot make it from class to class quickly enough. You can have your car but we won't let you park it anywhere even though we have more than enough land to provide parking. We write parking tickets very aggressively and withhold your diploma until you pay them. R!"

Actually, the Rutgers Foundation registered themselves and their tax ID on GoFundMe in order to be able to receive donations through that medium in the first place. One does not need permission to solicit on their behalf through GoFundMe, but in this case they refused the money because they didn't agree with the cause (even though there are no strings attached).

No matter how many times you and others attempt to spread mis-information, we will reply and not only correct you, but make you look like dumbasses for repeating yourselves.

No need to argue with RUgrad75. He doesn't get it.

What national attention?
I listen to Sirius/XM College Sports radio all day while I'm working and I haven't heard a peep.
