According to a source, Rutgers Basketball is expected to have a zoom call with Asa Newell and family to discuss his recruitment and it's possible that a visit could come from the call.
In terms of where the offer stems from, I've been able to confirm that asst. coach Marlon Williamson is very close with one of his coaches at Newell's AAU program (1Family Hoops) and if you combine that with Steve Pikiell + Brandin Knight getting to see how her performed at for team USA Basketball at the U19 World Cup out in Hungary and you get the Scarlet Knights offering him.
