Logan Lister to Navy

That is awesome. I'm kinda proud, actually. Weird how that works.

Didn't know the service academies took transfers, thought you needed an appointment your senior year in HS. Good move on his part.

Good for him. Can't help but feel happy for him and his choice.

Unless something has changed, and I am pretty sure it has not academically he starts over as a plebe. Did he use any of his athletic eligibility? Navy does not use a tight end in that offense so I would suspect he will be playing another position there.

He's the one who didn't want to move to the OL even though he wasn't fitting in at TE? What position does he think he's gonna play at Navy?

Can never fault anyone for making that type of commitment - he's not transferring for an easier life or to set himself up better for the pro's. Good for him.

USNA does take transfers, but as mentioned above, everyone begins at the beginning. You must be in "residence" at the Academy for 4 years.

I don't know how he went about getting his appointment, but there are "Supe's appointments"--which are Superintendent's appointments. The Supe has about 50 of them that can be given out at his discretion. Some are used for athletes, though not all of them. Not sure Lister is the type of player they would use one on, but you never know.

Best of luck to him!

Never heard of anyone doing this. You can learn something new every day if you give it a chance.
Best to him.

Yeah, it's pretty uncommon, but not totally unheard of. We had a handful of guys that went NROTC schollie at a civilian school, killed it and transferred in. Most people don't want to give up the year of hard work, which is what you must be willing to do. None of the credits transfer, in all but the rarest of circumstances (you can request the final exam in certain courses and if you score high enough get credit).

Time for a dumb question. Is he "going to Navy?" Or is he going to the Navy? Remember Berkely Hutchinson? He went to the Army, not to Army. Seems like something I've never heard of in college football. In either case, I wish him well.

He's going to the Academy according to his Twitter profile.
