Lost my Dad yesterday-Memorial Day

Sorry for your loss. 2010 I lost my father a WWII veteran.

Both part of the greatest generation.

Oh, man, it's always tough losing a parent. My thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.

I'm sorry to hear that; losing a parent always sucks. Kind of fitting that it was on Memorial Day since he was a veteran.

I lost my father several years ago and it was right before Father's Day. That's been kind of sucky, but also kind of nice - a celebration of his life as a father.

K- so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I lost my mom in January, so I'm right there with you and may have a sense of what you're going through. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, especially if you're going to be in the area.

My condolences. Your father sounds like a wonderful man, and while he is physically gone, I'm sure his values flow through your everyday actions, as the love and memories flow through your heart.

Sorry for you loss. And on Memorial Day no less. Wow. My dad was a Marine WW2, enlisted at 16 because he came from a broken family and was being shuffled from one relative to another. He was the toughest, but biggest hearted person I knew. We lost him 3 years ago to Lung Cancer. I miss him every day.

My deepest condolence ABRO, no words can ever say enough at such a time of sorrow. But, know that we will say a prayer for you and your dad.

A Korean war vet, husband of 60 years, father of 7, and just a good old-school family man.

My deepest condolences - sounds like a great father, husband and American. Many of us on this board are at or near the age where our parents are starting to either decline of go for good, which is tough. We lost my wife's mom and step-mom in the past few years and have had many friends lose their parents recently, including one of my best friends and huge RU fan, who lost his mom and his dad in a month, which was brutal. My wife's dad, a WW II vet, is getting pretty frail at 94. Thankfully, my mom and dad are still reasonably healthy in their early 80s, but every time the phone rings from one of them, a small part of me has a little fear that it's going to be some bad medical news or something like that.

My condolences, I lost my dad last October. He was also a Korean War vet, took care of my mother during her last few years (she passed away about 3 years ago). It's always difficult losing a family member.

Sorry for you loss, and I hope your family can find some peace.

My father, who passed away also, was a WWII vet of the army air corps, but some of my friend's fathers served in the Korean War. I live in Jersey City, and pass by the Korean War Memorial on the Water front in Paulus Hook a lot. I always stop to honor the men who fought in Korea. Sometimes I think people forget about this war, and the terrible conditions the men endured.

I thank you for your Father's service, and again, my condolences.

Your Dad was a remarkable man and an American Hero.

Sorry to hear such somber news...you have my deepest condolences. I lost my dad in "o3".. he was a WW2 Army Air Corps vet who served in the Po Valley, Italy for over 3 yrs and learned to speak fluent Italian with an Eighth grade formal education. He used to do the London Times crossword puzzle......amazing old timers from the greatest generation..they made our nation what it is. These men will be missed but remembered.

Sorry to hear about your loss... my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My condolences to you , your family and all that knew and loved your Father.

Sorry for your loss. Served his country, married for 60 years and had 7 children. What a fulfilling life he must have had and what a legacy he leaves behind. You should be proud!

Sorry to hear. May he rest in peace. Sounds like he lived a full and happy life.

My condolences. I lost my Dad a few years back. A WWII navy vet and NY/NJ Port Authority police officer. He would have been celebrating a birthday this week, with a shot and a beer.

Very sorry to hear that - I lost my dad (WWII veteran) 17 years ago today. Given how proud he was to have served in WWII I did take some solace in knowing that the day he passed away will fall on Memorial Day at times....but as stated above its never easy.

Many thanks for all of the condolences. It is very much appreciated. Yes my Father packed a lot of living into his 82 years and leaves behind a nice legacy which I am proud to carry forward.

Sorry for your loss and thanks for your dad's service. May he rest in peace and Semper Fi from a Marine Viet Nam Veteran.
