Mag

Per a rather good source : Mag may indeed be ready to go. Just needed a bunch of medical doctor sign offs.
Personally, I d prefer for Mag to be eased into rotation via getting gradual increased minutes against the lower opponents and then hopefully he’s back into his starting 30 minutes per game role Vs Illinois next month.

I started this thread based off Jerry Carino's RU-PU preview article from the other day, and then RU72 mentioned it as a possibility on Twitter too. Carino article excerpt:

"Everyone Princeton puts on the floor can drain a 3-pointer. Pikiell emphasized close-outs in Rutgers' game prep. It will help if senior forward Mawot Mag is out there. The defensive stopper tore an ACL last February but has been practicing. Pikiell had him rotating in and out with the first team over the past week."

Agree that he should be eased in, no need to do anything silly the first month of the season.

I think everyone expects Mag to be eased in. That's a given.

Even if he only gives us a few minutes, it will be awesome to see him back on the court for game 1.

If he doesn't play game 1, no worries. It sounds like it will be one of the first games. Returning in November gives him time to hopefully be a full go and shake some rust off by SHU and B1G play when we will really need him

Seems to be some smoke that Mawot may play tomorrow... @Richard Schnyderite you hearing anything?
It's possible, told it's legit 50/50. Being told he will give it a go in warmups and see how he feels.

I was also told if he does play, don't expect 30 mins of play maybe around 10-15 or more depending on how he's playing and how he feels. They are being very cautious here.

I guess he will never play. The best anyone can do is 100%.

Plus, players rarely comeback at 100%, they come back and work themselves back to 100%. Obviously, they need to be pretty close in order to play and not hurt the team.
Yup. I remember how concerned I was about McConnell after he could barely run in his giant knee brace against Central Connecticut. Next time out against Miami he was a lot better and by January I didn't even remember he was hurt.

Medical has cleared him.
I'm just going by the evidence. I rehab ACLs. Typically you want the quad on the surgical side to have at least 90% of the strength/power of the unaffected side. But time after surgery continues to be the best indicator for retear rates.

*Knock on wood.

This. He may not be 100% all season.

Yeah, and how much did Caleb play in the Miami game right after CCSU? I think nearly the whole game lol, I don't know if we actually ease players back into the season much. It seems Pike will either play you as much as he needs or you don't play.

Any minutes he plays is a plus. Let's give a very lengthy buffer on being effective for long stretches of minutes. My guess would be based on how effective he is and foul trouble with others. 12 to 16 minutes tonight (two 3 to 4 minute stretches going up and down the court in each half) isn't unreasonable.
