Make tush push illegal?

Leave it to the hated eagles to do this. They will ban it because it simply defies the spirit of football. That is not what todays football is or should be about. Fans DO NOT like it.

“Hates Eagles”

Wtf is with this “spirit of football” $hit.

Lmfao…wahhhhhh go cry about it.

Butt hurt?

No even close.

I actually find it hysterical how you are so triggered by anything Philadelphia.

You’re such a fragile little guy lmfao.

What makes taking a knee perfectly fine and “in the spirit of the game”?

And what makes a tush push not perfectly fine and “not in the spirit of the game”?

Clearly my post went over your head.

Otherwise you’ll be able to provide a great explanation to these two questions.

@T2Kplus10 your answer to these two questions?

Keep the tush push and allow the pyramid play to be legal, or ban them both
google explanation of pyramid play
(you cannot use another player to physically help block a kick by lifting them up or using their body as a platform to gain extra height; this is considered an illegal "pyramid play" and is penalized due to safety concerns and unfair competitive advantage)

With the current rules of the game- no one can say there is anything wrong with the TP. I can’t stand the play but now, teams need to figure out how to defend it or run it themselves.

As an eagles fan, I don’t mind the tush push. I wouldn’t mind if the nfl only allowed it for plays inside say the 5 yard line tho. No doing it just to get first downs.

What is the "spirit of football"?

Followup: And how does the tush push go against it?
The spirit of football is deeply rooted in Catholicism, and anything involving a tush is a clear violation of everything holy. The Bible forbids such anatomical references.

If you allow running into line of scrimmage and getting pushed forward by teammates, then there should not be given "forward progress". You are down when runner is on the ground only. Pushed forward 3 yards or back 15.

And why would they ?
Are you asking why would they pull a runner or why would they make it legal? Found out it isn’t legal to pull.
But have seen piles now where an OL is in front of the pile and pulling it…

It seems so stupid.

Starting to look likely it will be banned:

Eagles have a great line and excellent coaching of the push.
A lot of teams try it and fail because they don't have the OL and (mostly) coaches do a bad job of coaching the TP.
Its not so much just a "push" as a push with can opener leverage. The blocker will tip slightly in one direction or another and not just bull rush ahead. OL goes very low .

The maul in rugby that the TP resembles is not a straight ahead affair. Rugby mauls, scrums, rucks are dynamic and shifty. Someone at Philly understands that and the leverage shifts as they push. Other teams are trying beans-n-franks "tush sneaks" where offense goes straight ahead and defense goes straight ahead and a stalemate is a result. Philly also gets lower and that's not a new thing since OL/DL submarining each other goes back decades without injury peaks.

Overall I see a lot of weak coaching in NFL. Technique and form is poor, players start season sloppy, OLs cant block the more athletic (and juiced) defenders. QB play looks likes street ball and even Brady says the position is dumbed down and I don't think that's by accident.

Passionate Tom Brady believes QB play has been "dumbed down," NFL's rule changes have gone too far

This is not complicated. "Assisting the Runner" has been illegal in football for 100 years.

Why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT FOOTBALL!!!

There already is a sport where about a dozen guys bunch together and engage in what is essentially a tug of war. It's called Rugby.

Very simple.

Except it's not illegal.
And the new rule wouldn't make "assisting the runner" illegal either.

It literally only applies to a player lined directly behind the center and immediately receiving the ball.
It would still be legal for OL to push a RB or WR.

The entire thing is literally sour grapes

"If the Packers’ proposal passes, Rule 12, Section 1 would be amended to say, “No offensive player may . . . immediately at the snap, push or throw his body against a teammate, who was lined up directly behind the snapper and received the snap, to aid him in an attempt to gain yardage.”

Nobody but philly fans want to see the tush push, at least not real football fans.

What does "real football fans" mean?
Why not?

If they want to ban pushing a player, then ban it completely.
Don't ban just pushing one player in a very specific situation.

A situation that 28 other teams are just mad about because they can't do it well.

This is stupid. Only reasons why people want to ban The Push is:

-Their favorite team can’t run it the same way the Eagles run it.
-Their favorite team can’t stop a simple one yard play.
-It skews their fantasy football leagues with Jalen Hurts having the Ohtani Pitch/Hit advantage by leading the league in rushing TDs.

Next thing you’ll see is banning QBs to run the ball like Lamar Jackson/ Josh Allen or ban RBs over 200 pounds like Derrick Henry.

Assisting the runner is lifting or pulling the runner. There has never been an issue of driving a pile or runner.

I love nothing more than linemen busting down field to drive the pile and the RB pops out. Do you hate when the OL drive the pile for Rutgers running backs?

Someone should tell HC Schiano he's not a "real football fan" since he keeps running the Tush Push.

This all started with Brodeur.
"Well our goalie can't handle the puck like he can so let's ban it."

Then it turns in banning the shift and banning the tush push.

Next is going to be banning the new Torpedo bats.

Never understand why sports fans want to ban strategy.
That's literally what separates teams.

Maybe they should ban the full court press.
It's not fair if the team has a bad PG.
No defense until they cross mid court!

Rugby isn't a tug - its a push!
A little tuck and wiggle is added!

How about ban basketball shots within 7 feet of the rim?

We dint have a rim protecting center so we should petition to get rid of that.

I’m referring to traditional , hard core football fans don’t want to see the tush push .

Speaking of Philly fans- we just moved into Delaware and they are all over the place. Even at a St Paddy's day party at our clubhouse where everyone was asked to wear green, their lazy asses all ended up in their football jerseys.

When we moved here- house was furnish and up in our loft area, it was decorated for the Eagles- had a bar table and 2 stools with the logo on it, framed Nick Foles Jersey, a black and white of some old timers playing and a handful of other items. I was just going to throw it all away but our Stanley Steamer guy was a fan and we gave it all to him but he never came back for the photos or framed jersey. I may just wait for the season and burn it in front of the clubhouse. lol
