Matt Rhule is a great coach!

Why were you complaining ? The cupboard was bare !
His predecessor, Doug Graber.. never had less than 4 wins...

Shea then took the "bare cupboard" and immediately went 2-9 and then 0-11 before becoming Big East Coach of the Year for going 5-6 and following that up with a 1-10 season. before finishing out his string at 3-8.

Terry Shea might as well have said, in 5 years the cupboard will be bare.

But the complaint was that you do not treat football players that way. Football players that you should be leading. You can think it... you can say it privately, say, to an AD... but you cannot say it publicly.

unbelievable how soft and how out of touch some people are. Must be gov't workers here

at one time running off players would be looked in as lack of loyalty to the players forced off the program. by many of the programs fanbase.
God help the players that transferred on their own to a good program
Dropping down was acceptable
Now its show you have something we can use or leave and the fanbase agrees.
Once the NIL arrived on the scene sympathy for the players went out the window .
Especially when seeing players use the portal ti get the best NIL deal they can.

What Sanders done is something that's been going on for years, he just did it at a bigger scale and didn't try to hide it
Any other coach did what he did and there would be a HUGE stink over it. But he's "Coach Prime".. has endorsement deals.. he's a Nike property himself.. and AFLAC.. and they advertise. So there was no big stink. He acts like it is him (and them) against the world when they have a lot of help already.

Then it also shows what horseshit recruiting is
We promote FAMILY, show the recruits llove and attention tell them we care about them more than just about football, about them outside of football, their future and their family

We stood by the Leonard brother when he got A career ending injury.
That was doing it with honor, that I respect from the staff, and expect

That all becomes bullshit if you tell them to get lost because someone passed them on the depth chart
Maybe that is ok with some, I prefer a less business side
I know the sport probably won’t head in that direction and the sport is worse off for it

Deion knows how to market himself and get attention, when you can do that ypu'll get people to overlook your faults and make money .
If he continues to have Colorado look like its going [places his bandwagon will be large.
If the Buff start looking grounded the bandwagon will start to empty and Sander's detractors will be out in full force.
Oregon will be a good indicator but with Hunter missing game can be a justifiable loss.
A win and the college football world will bow to Deion even more
By the end of this season he'll solidify his support ( a good year , not necessarily a bowl year) or become fools gold in peoples eyes ( blowout losses winding up with a losing record)
ASU and Stanford should be easy wins , UoA, OSU & WSU expected wins but excusable losses ,the rest of their schedule will be what counts by the way the Buffs play UCLA,USC & Utah

In what world? There have always been cuts. My father was dealing with cuts in the early 50s.
always has been cuts, but not as many put out like Sanders did publicly.
Your father might have been involved in cuts, but doubt he looked like he was bragging about getting rid of deadwood and having the public accept it as a good thing.
Sanders personality and the NIL environment makes putting out the news you're dumping players off the roster more acceptable.
I don't know what college football world you know or your father was involved with, but pushing players to leave was always something programs tried to keep in house

Coaches run off players all the time.
Prime is just out in the open with it.

Charlotte coach came in this year too, just like Sanders, and brought in 70 new players, including 48 fourth-year transfers. Nobody says boo.
One's in the spotlight every day and one had a 30 sec. clip on ESPN when he got hired. Of course, people are going to talk about what they see or read about everyday as opposed to some obscure coach named Biff Poggi. Sanders wants to be in the spotlight and you get the spotlight treatment, all eyes on you.

This is college football. Folks don't like it, that's their right; it's a free country. Folks try to claim Sanders is the only one operating like this, they're either willfully blind or outright lying.
That guy is cool too!!

No , he said something like jump in the portal. The team was 1-11 last year . He had to clean house. Seems like he has done a good job and already exceeded expectations for this season.
Ash basically said the same damn thing at his introductory press conference and no one gave a crap!
Ummm, how has he already exceeded expectations after 3 games against two lousy teams and one that was probably overrated?

The Colorado AD only had a few years left on his contract and the failures in hiring football coaches (he hired four I believe) were wieghing him down. Because of bad football the college was missing a lot of revenue that other P5 schools weren't. Colorado was quite behind in its cash flow and needed a new start quick. They changed their sticky transfer requirements to get portal player into the college fast. Things weren't all Deion. Keep in mind USC's LIncoln Riley hit the portal hard and got top players - including Caleb Williams from Oklahoma.

Deion for his part said "you cant make a new, good team with the old, bad players". Deion also made it clear he was an Old Testament coach and wasn't going to tolerate anyone too sketchy. Colorado was no stranger to crime scandals. Credit Deion for coming in quick and being honest with players very early.

Good overview of Colorado decline (from early 2022)

Ummm, how has he already exceeded expectations after 3 games against two lousy teams and one that was probably overrated?
Similar to Rutgers, right? It's the same for both teams. You can see the big difference from last year for both teams! You're so positive about Rutgers this season and call out people who are negative yet you are calling out Colorado.
For Colorado it's a good offense leading the way and a questionable defense. For Rutgers it's the opposite, an impressive defense and a non explosive offense. Yet both fan bases are fired up. Nobody expects either to win it all. Both fan bases would be more then happy to go to a bowl this year! Why do you have to piss on Colorado's improvement??
