So, we are now seeing in wrestling the last couple of years what recruiting can look like if the Jersey Pride thing ever took hold in football and men's basketball. The question I have is why our MBB recruiting gets off so easy in not reeling in the top NJ kids - moreso than the football recruiting. To me, they appear very similar - kids going to the big-name schools out of state with only minor consideration of their State U, Rutgers (with rare exceptions in both sports). It just seems to me that it has been accepted over the years, including now, that our top NJ players can go to Duke or Kentucky, but we feel differently in football if they choose Michigan or Ohio State over RU. Is it just acceptance that the MBB in recent years has been so screwed up that we understand better why they wouldn't want to play here - but that's not the case for football? Is it that the facilities are more comparable to top programs in football than in basketball? I know it's a complicated question, but it seems to me in either case that if all the top NJ kids went to RU in both sports, both would be hard to stop - and fairly quickly (especially in hoops).
