From a HS coach's perspective, has the perception dramatically changed? Because it seems at least for the early '16 class we had the dream team buzz going. I am afraid that this thread will turn into a bashing session on the former regime, but I find it remarkable that the tide has changed this quickly. Wonder if RU has a bad season on the field if the early buzz will turn into buzzkill.

There is a new excitement (from players and HS coaches around the state) and not just forced excitement. There is a difference between when kids post pictures, and sound excited, on a visit and what goes on behind closed doors. Behind closed doors people are excited. It is a very positive first step. I had two players at the junior day and both are sold on what Rutgers is selling. I am big fan of what they are doing so far. If it is a tough season with passion and effort I do not think the excitement will be lost. If we look like we did last year ..well lets hope that does not happen.

That's good to know. There was a long running joke/phrase here about Flood having no "stain" with recruits. Sounds like Ash has stain, whatever the heck that means. There is always new excitement and energy when a new coach is hired, but the inside looks they are giving everyone with the tire pulls, conditioning and other drills are doing a good job of getting folks pretty pumped.

Been saying this since for 2 months now. Watch his high school highlights and take into account that he played in the top division in Michigan and what is considered one of the top 10 high school conferences in the nation (as opposed to the idiots on the board, a few weeks ago, posting that he played in a "small school catholic league" lol....).

If Gio is the man, so be it. I'm confident that the staff will put the best guy out there.

I do believe that the tweet is about Class of 2017, why would you prop up one guy and essentially, publicly deny the rest of the QBs? I think someone counted 9 QBs on the roster right now (obviously some will likely be sent to other positions), but why piss off 8 guys at this point?

Again, if Gio wins the competition, I'm sold, but don't think that's the case just yet.

Speaking of Mehringer.....that tweet from a Manhattan Jaspers basketball game came kind of out of nowhere the other day......I wonder if he had some ulterior motive being there....like maybe Trying to recruit Steve Masiello....maybe they have the same agent or something. Just seemed too random to be at a Manhattan College game.....Mehringer could afford Knicks tickets.
