Good game on ESPN2 for those not locked into SEC love fest. Navy up 7 in the third.

If this Memphis kid is the number 1 rated pro QB prospect in the country, I wouldn't want the # 1 pick in April's draft.

He has absolutely zero touch on the ball...

I don't think he's that highly rated. People are excited about his size and mobility. He also hasn't been a QB that long so his upside is a big plus.

SEC love fest here in the east.....its the most boring overhyped over rated conference in i don't know how long...who's pushing that agenda...boring..

Actually curious how this type of offense would fare in the B1G.
Pretty well because you can succeed with less talent. Look how many times Navy has played schools like ND close. That being said, you'd get similar results as GTech. You will make bowls and keep games close but you aren't going to be at the top of the B1G East with it.

This. That offense will get you 7-9 wins a year. Not bad. But not great.

I wouldn't mind going to CCGs and NYD bowl games like Georgia Tech has done using this offense. In fact the offense hasn't been Techs problem all these years. They just have had the defenses to match most of those years.

Tech doesn't play In the B1G East. They have one "big" game a year against a down VaTech. Who in the coastal has the talent of OSU, MSU, Michigan and PSU(granted their coach sucks at actually coaching)?

The game "going to shit" definitely depends on your perspective.

I'm still waiting for Derleider to come back and tell me that Navy would never be able to compete in a conference because they would get worn down.

On the way to 10 or more wins...

I guess Memphis counted their chickens before they came home to roost in the house of death

But you can compete against Maryland, Indiana, and at least two of the B1GWest teams to start with. And as you rebuild the program to this (or ANY different offense), hopefully more players would be interested in playing for Rutgers. Hopefully, they'll be able to be contrarian enough to compete against the big boys.

Yes Georgia Tech didn't beat Florida State in those 2 CCGs. But last time, they were a final drive away to beating them. Plus they also beat Georgia in their rivalry game and Miss State in that NYD bowl game. But sure, keep banging your heads against the wall watching Rutgers run the same pro offense that been run all these years.

The people you're picking a fight with in this thread have been advocating for an offensive change for more than a year.

That said, changing to the Triple Option or Flexbone option is silly.

So everyone else is advocate but I'm picking a fight when I just trying to give my opinion.

Got it... Thanks.

You're telling us to "keep banging our heads against the wall" in support of the pro-set. We don't support the pro-set. Understand?

You're not exactly new to this forum. You of all people should know your opinion is only appreciated when you're in agreement with everyone else.

ummmm...no

How about, don't waste your time arguing for something with people who are already on your side?

I can't think of a person on this site who doesn't want to scrap the pro-set.

If we are going to go through the pains of changing offenses, going to the Triple Option is not the way to go.

It's difficult to recruit for

It's difficult for the players to master

It's difficult to coach effectively

And on top of all that, we will never finish above 3rd in our division running it. It has a ceiling that most people here would have trouble accepting.

Are you going to get Paul Johnson to come and run it? Or Ken N? Otherwise, install a a version of the spread.

Nice win by Navy. Looks like one of those games where Memphis' D caught up with them. 3 TOs probably didn't help either.

TCU, Memphis, MSU leave the land of the undefeated. LSU could be joining them soon too.

Wait you want to switch to the triple option to compete with Indiana and Maryland? Aren't we 3-0 vs them already?

Cool... I'm wrong. Run the Pro offense. You win.
Lol. You simply don't quit huh? I'm the guy who posted the link to his bio yet you argue, I want to run the pro set? I'd bet a gofund me 10 spot that most of this board had never even heard of a Fritz before I tossed his name out there.

Dude, I wasn't even arguing with you from the beginning. I was agreeing with you but yet somehow everyone thought I'm an ass. Now its a problem when i said im not gonna say another word about this. Whatever. Damm.

Who were you addressing when you said, "keep banging your heads against the wall and run the pro-set?"

I've been saying we should switch to a spread for some time now along with some others, be it read option/air raid. I think most of the board has come around to that thinking lately. It's no guarantee but it's the best avenue to close whatever talent gaps will likely exist between us and our yearly competitors in conference.

That being said, I don't know that the triple option is the way to go. It would probably limit your attractiveness to recruits. It's good if you're tied or out in front but if you're behind by a lot it's not an offense that facilitates comebacks. Could others (Niamatololo, Fritz) do as good a job of installing it on this level as Paul Johnson? Overall the defenses across the B10 (7 out of the top 25 defenses) are probably better than the defenses in the ACC so would they do a better job of handling/adapting to it?

You stop the triple option with speed on the perimeter of your defense, key discipline and a stout interior d-line that takes away the FB dive.

Sound anything like Ohio State, Michigan (under Harbough), Michigan State or Wisconsin? lol

Paul Johnson could come here and install it. It wouldn't matter. As VKJ said above, we already beat the teams that we would beat using it.
