Men’s Lacrosse Began Big Ten Play at No. 11 Johns Hopkins Saturday

The last 4 minutes of the 4th qtr. of the Penn St. game is "killing" Cornell.
They seem to be doing just fine. They have the real x factor in college lacrosse. Kirst is the biggest difference maker there is in the game.

No argument re. Kirst, but they'd be undefeated and a clear #1 in the polls with a win over PSU.

ESPN programs their acc tilts on ESPNU and where they can, their B1G games on ESPN+

Hopefully that contract is ending for them. I've always said Hopkins lacrosse is in a bit of a precarious position. They don't get any football/basketball money, along with all that comes with that (best practices, nutrition, training techniques, etc.), and they are competing against programs that do. They have some natural advantages but lacrosse has significantly changed in the last 30 years. I am sure their fans are still clamoring for the days of old but they are never going to return. Not saying they can't compete but that is the best they will do.

Still, there isn't much better in lacrosse than winning on Homewood field and sticking it to them. Good thing I wasn't at that game. Their fans would have hated me.

Need one of these West Coast schools to start men's lax. I'm looking at you in particular, USC. You literally have no excuse for not having it.

Who is funding that? When Penn St added mens hockey they were forced to add a women’s program all at a cost of $100MM

B1G programs more likely to add men’s programs are Michigan St, Minnesota, and outside of the B1G, BCU.

How much of adding hockey was facilities? Not an issue with field hockey and lacrosse. And SC seems to have the money to do it, though I may be mistaken.

USC is literally building an on campus lax stadium as we speak.
A lax/soccer stadium, not a FH stadium. Where are those 3 teams going to practice while one of the teams is playing games? So you'd have 4 programs trying to jockey for use. That's hard to do if you don't have a lot of other space, which they definitely don't.

If you donated $10MM to jumpstart the build, you likely wouldn't want more programs playing in there. If I ever donate enough to have my name on a lacrosse stadium, you can bet there will be ironclad language in the agreement that no other programs can use the facility. A lesson the Yurcak family unfortunately learned.

Title 9. It’s very hard to start a men’s sport.

They already have a women's team. The logical way to add a men's team would be to start field hockey at the same time.
With the new schollie limits, they don't have to start a new women's team ...just add women's schollies to existing women's sports.

When/if RU adds any of the 20 new FB scholarships, they should add the corresponding scholarships to our more successful women's teams - Soccer(+14) and FH (+15) could absorb them easily

If we want to continue competing in lacrosse, we are going to have to add scholarships to our men's team. Our peers are.
