RU now goes to Akron on Sunday for the second round. Akron must be one of the top 16 teams as there were 32 teams playing 16 games last night with the winners moving on to visit the 16 teams that had a first round bye.
I would like to see the men's tournament expand to 64 teams, like the women's tournament has, to get rid of byes and allow for a 1-16 seeding in each region. But I don't know how many schools play D1 men's soccer. If the B1G is any indication, the # of men's teams might be around 70% of the number of women's teams, though it could be higher since a good number of schools don't have football teams and have fewer concerns about gender equity issues.
