I guess the game was so bad no one wanted to post how bad they played. We give up a goal less than 1 minute into the game and were never even in this game. For the more expert soccer posters than me who does this loss fall on?

Did you watch the game? On whom do you think the loss "falls"?

From my perspective, we were expected to finish last or near last. We were dominant for a huge portion of the season, got into the Big Ten tournament a 4 seed, won our first round game, and lost to #1 OSU on their home field. We all would've like better, but it is what it is. They got up on RU early, and RU was unable to respond. The men had some good chances down 2-0, and controlled play for a little while, but it wasnt their day.

Now was I extremely disappointed? Of course I was. But thats part of being a fan. We will be in the NCAA tournament, which no one would've guessed heading into the year.
I don't see why the loss has to "fall" on anyone. The message board almost universally wanted the DD fired last year, and now he is COTY. No matter what happens, this season is a success story. No reason to take away from that.

When will the NCAA selections be announced for the men's tournament? Will the tournament field have 64 teams, like the women, or does it have just 48 or 32 because many colleges don't sponsor men's soccer?

Thanks.

I think Monday is when the selections are announced.

The "loss" doesn't "fall" on anyone.

- OSU is a better team, despite the fact we beat them earlier this season, period

- OSU was at home

- giving up an early goal, to a home team in a tourney, can be devastating (see: RU woman @ Penn State)

- this team was expected to finish at or near the B1G basement

...so there you go. Doesn't take a "soccer expert" to break down that game.

We finished the regular season #29 in the RPI and 48 make the field. We should get in by *this* much.

This is not the football board where blame has to be tossed around for every loss. How about we got beat by a better team.
Agree.

Funny how all the Vince Lombardi's over there think that is never the case.

But I do think it is fair when you're playing at this level (in any sport) to talk about somebody's performance. This isn't rec/munchkin soccer anymore.
