Ran into the head of the Evil Empire himself right outside of Fox Studios. I was wearing an RU jacket, which I pointed out to him and we discussed our shared love of RU players. I also told him to draft Leonte and he asked what position he played. When I said WR, he said "we certainly need on of those". As a Jets fan, this felt like cheating (no pun intended), but in the moment, my RU sentiments took priority. As much as I hate to admit it, he was pleasant and actually friendly.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kraft once...he really is a nice man and I'm a giants fan.

They could use Lumpkin 'cause Brady can't take too many more hits. Would be nice seeing another RU guy or two in NE. Glad your Rutgers affinity superseded yours for the Jets.

I've run into him around Boston before. His car has a license plate like 'Pats -001' or something and he parks it wherever the F*** he wants... People are all like Hey Bob! And he shakes hands and talks to everyone. He's pretty down to earth.

In the time I spent with the League Office I got to interact with Bob Kraft on a number of occasions (he had just bought the team the year before I started). As cliche as it sounds, the best way to describe Bob Kraft is "tough but fair". He's a good guy, but he's also among the more demanding owners. That obviously manifests as success on the field.

Kinda lame calling him Bob like he's a friend of yours.

No worries, I get your point.

Al Davis was the only one, back in the day, who sought formality and "respect" (in that kinda 'Tony Soprano' sense). And nobody liked Al.
Did he ever wear his white Raiders track suit In the office?

He always wore a regular suit at 280 Park. Owners' meetings out of town were another story. The guy loved velour.

It's unkind to speak ill of the dead, so I'll simply say that, on the whole, Al Davis was not what you'd call a collaborative guy.

What was Jerry Jones like?

What was Jerry Jones like?

A lot more agreeable than the press coverage would suggest.

With respect to his ability to be contentious, Jones is basically a one-trick pony - he has / had one hot button issue. He challenged the League's right to control ALL revenue distribution. The fact that he won in court as often as he lost (stadium signage, local sponsorship dollars, etc.) would suggest that he wasn't wrong.

Aside from all that, he always seemed to be a decent enough guy and his organization wasn't difficult to work with as long as you respected the culture of independence.

Thanks.

I apologize for that snarky remark.

Just having fun. . . .[cheers]

I met the guy and he gave me a Superbowl ring. Then he complained I stole it, so I gave it back.

Kraft is an Indian giver.
