MIchigan St-RU game thread

Tough loss. But we can play with anyone in this league with the exception of Purdue, we don't match up well with those bigs. We need to shoot of course but the improvement is amazing.

We had a shot at the end of regulation and hung in there but just not good enough. No issues with the effort tonight that’s for sure.

you copy and paste this reply each thread ?

@1984. Yes i will continue.....because games are NOT decided in the first 10 minutes. AND....I know that basketball is a game of runs.

I'll stop when boneheads like you realize that every missed shot, turnover or score by the oppposition is not the end of the world in a 40 minute game. Game threads bring out the worse kind of fans with their silly negative comments.

And....they always disappear when the team plays well.

Sanders rarely rewarded with drives meanwhile MSU given foul shots when breathed on.

Refs wanted to make sure MSU wins by that non call on Sanders drive and score.

And Mike Williams not getting a hand in the face of that 3 point shot. Awful defense by him in such a crucial moment.

Also, why didn't Pike call timeout at the end of regulation.

On a day when our coach just got a huge extension and the usual suspects will be out three expressing outrage taking MSU to OT is a moral victory. And people around the country will notice an OT game.

Meh, we suck at inbounding the ball. I wouldn’t want to let MSU get set. Plus our only play is a Corey Iso

What for? We got a clean look from Corey that I though was going down. I guess you didn't see the losses in December where we couldn't inbound the ball or execute at the end.

Imagine we dont fall for the fake student shot clock at least 3 times in the 1st half. Or Grab a bucket at the end of 1h. Or one of those fouls go our way.. Or Mr. Knuckleball Jaren Jackson doesnt drill 2 threes in the 1st half

While a win would have been monumental it never ultimately seemed like it was going to happen. Good PR loss for the program almost as good as a win. Should be good recruiting material.

How many times do you see a tie game and a team goes coast to coast for the win. Reminds me of that game I think it was Florida? Chance for win last shot. Well al least we got a shot off.

Not into the moral victory, though I won't begrudge anyone for taking it. This crap hurts, just like all the rest of the "almosts" over the years. I just love this program and desperately want them to get over the damn hump. Aaargghhhh!!!

Only got to see end of the game plus OT but looks like they played hard...aside from the ref issues it sucks that there were some really simple issues they could have done without and maybe helped thei cause to win---
*Mike Williams not even getting hand up on the msu 3pointer from the side.
* freeman can not commit that 5th foul on a play like that...knowing he's a team leader and important to stay out there...especially when shaq (?) was down there to contest/foul shooter as well.
*inbounds plays----gotta know where the top FT shooters are even if they inbound quickly after our make.

Outstanding effort. In hindsight the game was lost on Rutgers last two possessions prior to over time. They failed to get to the foul line and Sanders missed two difficult jump shots.Heart breaking loss.

I just don't know what a foul is anymore. Maybe it has to do with color of the uniform or something.

the record and likelihood of making the post season. In 3 years I can CLEARLY see the B1G protecting its franchise teams. Just like the coverage on the B1G network. FRONTRUNNERS RULE. #SAD! #CHEAPNUNFAIR

Rutgers needed to win it one 1 of Corey's last 2 shots in regulation.

Tired of moral victories. Let's start winning some of these upset games.

Yeah. That was a hell of an effort, but to be real, I'd have taken a 20-point loss tonight if it meant a win on Sunday. Here's hoping the team can bounce back from a heartbreaker...

Rutgers can't play any better. Proud of the effort. Refs blew a couple calls at the end, while Michigan State had a foul called their way almost every posession in OT. There's nothing else you can do with that kind of officiating. This team at 13-5 would have been a bubble team after tonight. The two losses to those unmentionable teams are so painful, but I am hoping they are now in the rearview mirror. Play every game like tonight!

Great game. Sanders was great. Even had good FT shooting. I had no problems with the refs. Two things. Thiam works his ass off on D and did a great job. We need more from Geo. He seems to have fallen off the past few games.

Yeah, that hurt he had him on lock and instead of minding his business he steps to the BIG and couldnt recover, but not to have a hand up to bother him, was not smart.
