I was reviewing Michigan State past history to check out the 3 stars recruiting myth and noticed some interesting items.

Michigan State didn't win solely on 3 stars recruits. In 2006, the year before Dantonio became HC, they had 7 4 stars recruits, in 2009 they had 10 4 stars recruits, and 2010, Michigan State had 4 4 stars recruits and 1 5 star recruit. In almost every year, they had very few 2 star recruits.

Michigan State was able to turn it around to the lousy coaching changes at Michigan and the change of HC at Ohio State2011 Luke Fickell 6-7 record. They were at the right place and at the right time to allow they to move up to the top.

Dantonio probably would have been fired if he was at Rutgers due to his early record. 2007 7-6, 2008 9-4, 2009 6-7, 2010 11-2, 2011 11-3, 2012 7-6. 2009-2011 they had a NFL QB Cousins playing. They had a terrible 2012 because of a new QB Maxwell but had a great 2013-2015 due to new QB Connor Cook., another NFL potential. QB makes a big difference

Rich Rodriguez just wasn't given enough time to turn it around and should have gotten rid of Greg Robinson as DC. His 3 years were 2008 3-9, 2009 5-7, 2010 7-5. BRADY Hoke comes in 2011 and goes 11-2 his first with Matt Mattison DC 107 ranked Defense to 6th in the nation. After that, Hoke keeps losing more each year similar to Flood.

MICHIGAN was bad for a long time. 2007, they fire Lloyd Carr after 9-4 season because he couldn't beat Ohio State. 2008 3-9, 2009 5-7, 2010 7-5, 2011 11-2, 2012 8-5, 2013 7-6, and 2014 5-7.

Most of the good BIG Ten teams had very good defenses and average offenses. Rutgers, in the 2006-2011, with the exception of 2010 would have been extremely competitive with the BIG Ten teams. There is hope for Rutgers football. It just takes the right coach, good defense and a very good QB.

Let's face it, when kids get offers from the big names, they get stars. This is not hard. Michigan and Michigan State are two of the top teams in the country. When Rutgers can consistently compete with them, we will also get more kids with stars simply because we offered. Now doesn't that just get your xmas juices going?

Kind of true, but it's no coincidence that our lower star players hold fewer P5 offers than the 4 & 5 stars

There is the myth that Michigan State did it was 3 stars players which isn't true. The only reason they became a top team was because Michigan fell down for several years and the Top Michigan recruits that use to go to Michigan decided to go to Michigan State. We beat Michigan State in 2005 and they weren't always a top team. It doesn't hurt to have NFL QB Cousins and Cook. The terrible 2012 season 7-6 was with a new QB Maxwell who wasn't very good.

Could not disagree with you anymore. I don't believe anyone said they won the Rose Bowl without any 4 star players. They had a few 4 star players sprinkled in like Treadwell, Lewis and Bullough. Just like we have a few 4 star players such as Caroo and Hamilton. However, most of that Rose Bowl starting team were not 4 star players. The great recruiting class of 2009 turned into somewhat of a disaster. Almost all of the 4 star players were gone or were riding the bench during their Rose Bowl season, with the exception of Treadwell. Even Maxwell, the 4 star QB was sitting the bench as he watched Cook perform. Go starting player for player on that Rose Bowl team and tell me what the majority of players were rated.

But we don't even have to do that. Just look at their Rivals rankings prior to winning the Rose Bowl, excluding 2009 which turned into a bust for their 4 star players. Even Bell, one of their most productive RBs prior to the Rose Bowl year was rated 2 stars.

Carr was not just asked back in 07, but he was begged not to retire after 06. It was his intention to retire. I am unsure if it was Bo dying, or rumored health issues. Perhaps he was just ready. What isn't in doubt was that he was asked back for one more year to help with donations towards the 250 million addition to the Big House.

You must have us confused with the Buckeyes. Michigan cares about how the program is run, and as long as you keep having good to great years, you will never get fired. That said, you dip below .500, then it is your ass. Even worse, your actions embarrass the school, as Moeller found out.

If you wish to talk about your conference brethren, at least know the score.

Had the RR led team showed improvement on the defensive side, he might of gotten to stay. However, that wasn't the case. His offenses didn't perform vs the better teams, and the defense stopped no one. After 2 prior losing seasons, he was toast.

MSU does get 4 and even 5 star players all the time, just not as much as OSU and Michigan. Those two are just loaded with them.

MSU are comparing themselves to those two, not teams like us, who only landed 2 four stars in 2-3 years.

Let's not get crazy!

True statement post Rose Bowl win but not pre Rose Bowl

Cumulative rankings for classes of 2007 - 2013 (Dantonio start to class before the Rose Bowl):
Ohio State - 64
Michigan - 83
Michigan State - 248
Rutgers - 286

Based on the 7 classes of Dantonio prior to the Rose Bowl, who's neighborhood were they recruiting in? OSU/Michigan or Rutgers?

And as stated, their 17 ranking for 2009, did not work out for them as they expected for the ten 4 stars recruits with only 1 red shirt senior starting on the Rose Bowl team with a coaching staff that prioritizes red shirting due to development.
