We were a Corey stepback away from winning there last year. Would be pretty sweet to bring it home this time.

Not a one to one comparison but we looked good against Ohio State when Eugene got hurt and then completely lost the next few games.
I certainly don't expect MSU to look bad but you never know.
Of course they’re better with Ward. However they still have a lot of offensive options and with Goins, Tillman and Kithier will go to battle
they will be fine the rest of the regular season. However they really need him back for the NCAA tourney or its an early exit for them

MSU still smothers pretty.much everything defensively and Cassius Winston is still.a beast. McQuaid was out for the 1st meeting, now is a starter. I think Aaron Henry will start to see more touches to spread out the offense and Tillman will likely start with Goins.

I either want to win this game or lose by 6+. Our guys don't need another heart breaker.
I think we've played 5 nail biters in conference that came down to last shot and we're 3-2. NW, PSU and I think Nebraska or Ohio State all had a chance to tie or win and missed 3s. It is ironic that the worst chance to beat us is the one that goes in.
These are classic sandwich games or look ahead tests....teams like MSU rarely get caught sleeping, but there's no doubt that National TV on Sunday in Ann Arbor has to be seeping into the fans thought process.
Another factor is Minnesota needs another big win and hosts Michigan Thursday night, while Michigan has to be thinking of Sparty on Sunday. Michigan doesn't need the game at Minnesota and Minnesota comes to RU Sunday night.
That was also the Rutgers team that might have thought it was a decent 3 point shooting team. That was earlier in the season when we took more 3 point attempts. The 26 3s we took against MSU is the most we have taken in a B1G game this year. Kiss played 33 minutes and was 3-9 from 3.

Both teams are going to look entirely different than our first meeting.
On the MSU side, Langford went for 37 min, 14 pts, and 4 rbs while Ward went for 24 min, 20 pts, and 5 rebounds. That was 34 of their 78 points (44%), and 61 of their 200 minutes (30%).
On the RU side, we got 61 minutes from Thiam/Kiss/Doucoure in that game, while Mathis/Harper/Johnson/Carter played just 47.
I think Minny could pull the upset which leads the almost inevitable letdown at the RAC...would rather see them beat Michigan than lose
We shot 26 threes that game, which is tied for our 3rd highest all year. We've only shot more than 20 one time during regulation since 1/1/2019.
One thing I have noticed a change in is that we haven't been coming out of halftime as flat as we were at the start of the year. We went into halftime down 2, and then 7 minutes into the 2nd half we were down 10, never getting closer than 6 the rest of the way.
yeah we are starting to narrow that time period where we dont play well...for Iowa it was just a 3-4 minute stretch in the 2nd half and that proved critical because Iowa was playing at the top of their game. I think our margin of error window has been raised just a bit lately where we can sustain some dry patches. Without Eugene, in games vs Purdue/Minny we never recovered. We sustained pretty good vs Illinois and Northwestern when they went on mini runs.
I think it is because we have so many more offensive options and we have made a concerted effort to play through the low post , not just to Eugene, but to Myles and both Shaquille’s since the Minnesota game. Getting an easy bucket or a dunk or short bank shot is good at stopping other teams runs. We have not put together a complete game offensively or defensively for 40 minutes through much of the first 10 games or so of the Big 10 schedule. But starting with Illinois, where I thought our defense despite Giorgi going off because we failed to double him, was still decent , and now we have seen our offense playing better. Illinois , Northwestern and Iowa our defense was much much better than the Ohio State and Michigan disasters defensively with the Iowa game being an outstanding effort. Iowa I would say was our most complete performance for 40 minutes with Illinois right behind with 45 minutes. We are starting to play 40 complete minutes which gives us a good chance to win any remaining games.

Those stats are a little misleading because it includes games against easy out of conference opponents.Bottom line Rutgers needs to score 70 points in more games in order to have realistic chances of defeating top tier league opponents as well as Seton Hall and St.Johns.
