Took a look at a couple human polls (Wrestling Report and Intermat) and two computer rankings (Dual Impact/SHP and WrestleStat) to see how the Knights and Gophers stack up against each other.

It's a down year for Minnesota but they are still a very tough team. Rutgers is a slight favorite but I'd expect a lot of close matches. Should be an excellent dual if everyone is healthy and ready to go.

It's going to be a good match! Hope Gravina is okay enough to wrestle. The shoulder dislocation is tough...I had that while wrestling in highschool, and never fully recovered from it the rest of the season. You just cannot exert the same amount of force to that side...

I agree 100%.My shoulder never ever recovered from the NCAA tournament. To this day I bench with a slight lean too the right because,I can't put pressure on it.The shoulder is worse than the knee in my opinion.

I think that is a very accurate preview and analysis. 5-3 RU with 2 toss ups. The kids had a very good, hard practice today. I think we need to win the first two bouts at 125 & 133 to set the tone and win the bout. If we don't the match could go either way. We have to go on the road and take care of business. It is time to live up to that # 6 ranking!

Nice preview Jaroslav. Haven't seen you do it before this way very informative. Please keep doing this analysis for all our matches maybe just add in their current records. Good job.

Just want to let you know that Matt McDonald transferred into RU from Monmouth where he went for football. Wants to wrestle and is eligible now and is working out with Billy Smith. He went to West Essex where he was 2nd in the States losing to Colucci at 220. Good pickup.

How many years does he have left?

I think you mean Marc McDonald. True freshman so I would guess full eligibility

Nice pick up, 38-3 last year with 2 losses to Colucci, what I liked to see was he had over 20 pins last year. Wrestled between 220 and 285 during the year.

Thanks, Obrats, super nice of you to say. I'm also on the twitter @JaroslavWrestle

Agree with others, that's an awesome side by side in the OP. I've not noticed that posted before... of all the ways to post the matchups, that is the easiest to "see." So often (like at the matches) you just have two lists and are stuck looking across the two lists to compare everything.

Of course, its not made easier by the fact that to capture anything in wrestling, you need to refer to 4 rankings services.

love the pick up! gives us more options. Love that he is a freshmen,,,love that he has all year to get better before they decide if he will be the starter.

As far as Minn goes. I feel good at it. I wish McCabe would be wrestling a little better going into this match but it is what it is. 125 and 133 is huge matches as said above. For some reason Thorn makes me very nervous. On paper Ashnault should win prob by 6 or 7. I will settle for a 1 point win at the buzzer since its in Minn and Ash hasn't been scoring at will lately. I have a bad feeling it might come down to Smith so I hop he steps up. lets keep this train moving forward!!!

I think we will win 2 of 3 (125 - 141) but I expect Ash to win.
Is Gravina going to Wrestle?

We need bonus points someplace (Perroti?)
A healthy gravina may have been able to scratch out a major.
Doesn't look like many bonus points in this match up (197 for Minn)
Should be a great match
